Lomax-Davee
CHARLOTTE — Amanda Marie Davee of Winston-Salem and Fred Monroe Lomax IV of High Point exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 23 at 6 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. W. Stewart Rawson and the Rev. Mark Diehl officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles Robert Davee of Franklin, Tenn., and Rita Ann Livengood of Charlotte and the granddaughter of Ruth Louise Davee and the late Charles William Davee of Columbus, Ind., and Dorothy Elaine and the late Robert Ray Livengood of Indianapolis, Ind.
She graduated from West Charlotte High School, Salem College in Winston-Salem and Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va., with a Master of Divinity degree. She is an ordained minister of word and sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She is employed as a hospital chaplain at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center of Winston-Salem.
The groom is the son of Fred Monroe Lomax III and Rosalyn Fleming Lomax of Goldsboro and grandson of the late Grace Weston Lomax, Fred Monroe Lomax II, Dorothy Lauaten Lomax and the late Roland and Neva Rogers Fleming of Greenville.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School and attended Greensboro College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is employed as the operations manager at Tamarian Carpets.
The bride was given in marriage by her family.
She wore a white silk gazar Amsale gown with a portrait neckline with an Alencon lace overlay on the bodice.
Her headpiece featured pearls and Swarovski crystals with a cathedral-length veil.
The bride carried a mixed bouquet of white and light pink tulips, peonies, roses, freesia and hypernicum berries.
Leigh Ann Jones Lichty of Charlotte was her friend’s matron of honor, while Rachael Ruth Davee of Eugene, Ore., sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Martha Lee Cochrane of Washington D.C., Elisabeth Maria Summerlin Harper of Winston-Salem and Maggie Tipton Curtis, Elizabeth Mills Gray and Courtney Rebecca Taylor of Charlotte, friends of the bride.
Fred Monroe Lomax III was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were the groom's cousins, Robert Weston Lomax of Wilmington and James Andrew Lomax of Washington D.C., cousins of the groom, and William Francis Eason and William Lowe Doss of Charleston, S.C., John David Grady of Wilmington, Matthew Patrick Rice of Fairfax, Va., and David Paul Flowers of Goldsboro, friends of the groom.
Brooklyn Elle Stewart, cousin of the bride, and Catherine Eleanor Patrick and Audrey Ellen Patrick, friends of the bride, were flower girls. Clayton Stewart Mobile and Cale Joseph Mobile, cousins of the bride, were ringbearers.
Leslie Jenkins directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Amanda Covington Anderson. Katy Bernice Rogers Hurn distributed programs.
Scripture readers were Fleming Christian Lomax, sister of the groom, and Evelyn Anne Coleman, friend of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Joyce Stewart, aunt of the bride, vocalist; Lester Ackerman, organist; and Laurel Talley, violinist.
Following the ceremony, a cocktail, dinner and dance reception was held at Byron’s South End of Charlotte.
After a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple reside in Greensboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 22 at the Duke Mansion of Charlotte hosted by aunts of the bride; a couple’s shower in Charlotte hosted by friends of the bride; a couple’s shower in Greensboro hosted by the groom’s family; a bridal shower at Salem Tavern in Winston-Salem; a ladies’ brunch and Christmas ornament shower in Charlotte; and an engagement party in Goldsboro hosted by the groom’s family.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Rooftop Rotunda at Holiday Inn Center City in Uptown Charlotte.
