Smith-Nelms
FREMONT — Ashley Benton Nelms and Joshua Adam Smith exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 28 at 4 p.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church, with Craig Langstgon and Judy Drye officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Julian Boyd and Gwynne Whitley Nelms of Fremont and the granddaughter of Clemon Edwin and Ella Ruth Wood Nelms of Centerville and Harvey Lamont and Polly Marks Whitley of Fremont.
She graduated from North Carolina State University with a double major in animal science and poultry science. She is employed as a lab technician at Goldsboro Milling.
The groom is the son of Cecil Leonard and Susan Snipes Smith of Grantham and the grandson of the late Cecil W. and Dorothy Goodman Smith of Princeton and Marjorie Bass and the late James Graham Snipes of Grantham.
He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in poultry science. He is self-employed as a farmer at Horse Creek Farms.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Gail Evans Price was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Brandi Talton, Gail Whitley, Alison Kennedy, Stephanie Howell and Miranda Ramey.
Leonard Smith was best man.
Groomsmen were Jason Bingham, Daniel Gray, Matthew Sanderson, Boyd Nelms and Lee Nelms.
Ushers were Russ Vinson and Phillip Croom.
Aleigha Sauls was flower girl. Christopher Sauls was ringbearer.
Candy Whitley and Lynda Stewart directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Katie Stevens. Cody Stevens distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Sylvia Overman, pianist.
After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple reside in Grantham.
