Routa - Murdock
Kimberly Joyce Murdock and Matthew Hamilton Routa exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 31 at 4 p.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church, with Dan Bare officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles Thomas and Joyce Mitchell Murdock of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of John Murdock and the late Virginia Murdock of Texas and Inez Mitchell and the late Andrew Mitchell of North Carolina.
She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2001 and Mitchell’s Hair Styling Academy in 2002. She is employed as a hair stylist at Hair Affair.
The groom is the son of John Valley and Rosemary Marcella Routa of Goldsboro and the grandson of John Routa and Linda Ekelamn of Pennsylvania and Ann Routa and the late Homer and Florence Clayton of West Virginia.
He graduated from Rosewood High School in 2000. He attended Wayne Community College. He is employed as a data network technician with the Air Force.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin strapless gown. The bodice was cuffed and beaded in pearls and bugle beads. The beading continued down the chapel train.
Her headpiece was a white veil adorned with matching beading around the scalloped edge.
The bride carried a bouquet of white lilies, pink Gerber daisies, white roses, white filler and greenery with silver accents.
Christina Toler was her friend’s matron of honor, while Stephanie Murdock, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sara Calfee, friend of the bride; Nicole Anders, cousin of the bride; and Jennifer Routa, sister of the groom.
Jason Farmer was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jeremy Wilson, Kevin Teasley, Dustin Swain and Michael Watson, friends of the groom.
Haley Toler, friend of the bride, was flower girl.
Melissa Gregory directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Richard Everhart and Evon Zell. Ashley and Krysten Murdock distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jim Dixon, soundboardist; Antoinette Parks, pianist; and Lisa Watson, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Officers’ Club. Ashley Hankins and Christopher Boyd greeted guests.
The couple will reside in Glendale, Ariz.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon March 30; a bachelor party March 29 hosted by the groomsman; a bachelorette party March 24 hosted by Christina Toler, Sara Calfee and Nicole Anders; a shower March 13 hosted by Hair Affair; a shower March 14 hosted by Eastern Carolina Surgical; a lingerie shower March 4 hosted by Christina Toler and Stephanie Murdock; a shower Feb. 25 at the home of Linda Everhart hosted by the bride’s family; and a shower Jan. 27 at the home of Sandra Peele hosted by Grace Bible class of Adamsville Baptist Church.
A rehearsal dinner was held March 30 at Holiday Inn Express.
