Powell - Hanzlik
PETERSBURG, Va. — Jennifer Ryan Hanzlik of Greenville and Timothy Brent Powell of Greenville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Church of The Sacred Heart, with the Rev. John J. Wagner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James Neil Hanzlik and Pam Powers Hanzlik of Waverly, Va., and the granddaughter of Joseph Wesley Hanzlik and the late Grandma Hanzlik of Waverly and the late Isaac Powers and Madeline Powers of Hopewell, Va.
She attends Wilson Technical Community College for an associate degree in nursing.
The groom is the son of Alton Brent and Wanda Jenkins Powell of Goldsboro and the grandson of Rachel, the late Alton B. Powell, Lillie Ruth Jenkins and the late Dalton Lee Jenkins of Goldsboro.
He is a 1998 graduate of Southern Wayne High School, a 2000 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in electronic engineering and a 2004 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelors degree in middle grades education.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a a white ball gown. The satin bodice featured a beaded lace appliqué with lace up the back. The ballgown tulle skirt featured the same Chantilly lace that flared into a cathedral train.
She carried an elegant bouquet of long-stemmed red roses.
Jessica Adele Wheeler of Waverly was her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Meagon Thornton Motteler, friend of the bride; Christy Clark Hanzlik, sister-in-law of the bride; Kasey Lee Powell, sister of the groom; and Laura Hanzlik Smith and Dana Michelle Cole, cousins of the bride.
Alton Brent Powell was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Wesley James Hanzlik, brother of the bride, and Thomas Collins Cooper III, friend of the groom.
Autumn Faith Hanzlik, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Dylan Brandon Hanzlik, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Presiding at the register was Emily Hanzlik. Carol Godfrey distributed programs.
Catherine Hanzlik of Disputanta was mistress of ceremonies. Ashley Jarrett Protzman was Scripture reader.
Special helper was Eileen Mozucha.
A program of wedding music was provided by Karen Phares, vocalist, and Mary Langford, organist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the New Bohemia Hall. Sherry Powers served the wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple reside in Greenville.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette/bachelor party Nov. 18; a miscellaneous shower Nov. 18 hosted by Laura Smith and Catherine and Emily Hanzlik, cousins of the bride; a bridal shower Nov. 11 hosted by the grooms mother; a Christmas Shower Nov. 5 hosted by Kasey Lee Powell, sister of the groom; a bridal shower in October hosted by Carol Godfrey and Sherry Powers, aunts of the bride; and a luau Aug. 12 hosted by Jessica Wheeler and Meagan Motteler.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Lighthouse Seafood Restaurant. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
