Pamela Daneen Hardy and Gary Albert Best of Lithonia, Ga., exchanged vows Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m. in a double-ring ceremony at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. David S. Hammond, uncle of the bride, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dorothy W. Hardy of Goldsboro and the late Larry J. Hardy of Greenville and the granddaughter of the late Allen and Mary B. Woodard of Goldsboro and the late Gus and Ester Hardy of Greenville.
She is a graduate of Goldsboro High School and North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in public administration. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is employed at Verizon Wireless as an area operation coordinator.
The groom is the son of Ernestine F. Best and the late Prince Albert Best Jr. of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Prince Albert Sr., Sarah Best, the late Robert Flowers and the late Reuben and Nora Hamilton of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Goldsboro High School and A&T State University with a degree in industrial technology. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He is employed with National Net as a senior network engineer.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Larry A. Hardy, and given in marriage by her mother.
She wore a strapless two-piece champagne gown with a beaded lace skirt and a satin corset bodice.
Her single-tiered bead-trimmed fingertip veil with gold lace embroidered flowers accented with silver was attached to a crystal tiara.
The bride carried a clutch-style bouquet of roses tied with satin ribbon.
Michelle Murdock of Washington D.C. served her friend as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Valerie Burden Bartlett of St. Louis, Mo., Dejuana Siler-Henderson of Durham and Monique Reaves and Symone Smith of Goldsboro, friends of the bride; Selina Best of Douglasville, Ga., sister of the groom; and Audra Tillery of Raleigh, college friend of the bride.
Byron Best of Douglasville was his brother’s best man.
Ushers were Torrence Flowers of New Haven, Conn., and Courtland Handy of Robbinsville, N.J., cousins of the groom, and Raymond Smith Jr., friend of the groom.
Groomsmen were Bennie Brewington of Durham, Terry Burney of Woodstock, Ga., Dwayne Everett of Chicago, Ill., Carlos Midgette of Washington D.C., Ricardos Smith of Marietta, Ga., and Gregory Williams of Goldsboro, friends of the groom.
Jessica Lewis, daughter of the groom, was the honorary bridesmaid. Terrance Hardy of Dudley, nephew of the bride, was the honorary groomsman.
Morgan White of Washington D.C., friend of the bride, was flower girl. Byron Best II, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Verna P. Best, friend of the couple, directed the wedding.
Hostesses were Avis Canty, Bianca Cogdell, Chez Jackson, Keisha Smith, Flonnie George, aunt of the bride, and Ethel Sampson, aunt of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kevin Alston, pianist and vocalist, and Tracey Alston and Verna P. Best, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, the couple’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.
After a wedding trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Island, the couple will reside in Lithonia.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower Sept. 16 in Georgia hosted by Verizon Wireless co-workers; an around-the-clock bridal shower Sept. 3 in Goldsboro hosted by Michelle Murdock and Dejuana Henderson; a bridal shower Aug. 26 in Atlanta, Ga., hosted by friends of the bride; a bridal getaway weekend Aug. 4 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a groom’s getaway weekend July 20 in Miami, Fla.
The groom’s mother held a rehearsal dinner Sept. 22 at Walnut Creek Country Club. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
