Carr - Murphy
Adrienne Ja'Landa Murphy and Tyrone Carr exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. at Mt. Zion Disciples Church, with the Rev. Antino Mc.Allister officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mack W. Murphy Jr. and Myra L. Murphy of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mack W. Murphy Sr. of Jacksonville, the late Elizabeth Murphy of Ivanhoe and the late Jim Kerr and Emma Kerr of Harrells.
She attends Wayne Community College for the human service substance abuse program.
The groom is the son of Melvin Carr and the late Edna Carolyn Carr of Ivanhoe and the grandson of the late Andrew and Lila Mae Carr, Martha Jane and the late Elder Newkirk of Ivanhoe.
He is employed with the Department of Correction at Maury Correctional.
The bride was escorted by her brother Sgt. Andr’E Murphy and father and given in marriage by her parents and brother.
She wore an ivory one-piece strapless A-line satin gown with a corset back asymmetrical waist with an angular cutaway. It had embroidery and beaded floral designs of Swarovski green, lavender and gold crystal and bugle beads. The train was 75 inches long from the waist. A side waist ran down the side front panel of skirt.
Peggy Murphy served as matron of honor, while Kimberly Carr and Jennifer Carr were maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jenny Damon, Shavon Damon, Tiffany Umphry, Angalia Mitchell, Patrica Holmes, Rachel Edmonson and Teresa Tyler.
Joseph Carr was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jerry Carr, Derrick Carr, Rodney Herring, Rayford Beatty, Andr’E Murphy, Jonathan Johnson, Jamarlen Carr, Ja’michael Murphy, Efrem Carr and Ricardo Murphy.
Ushers were Justin Knight, Brian Johnson, Anthony Poe Jr. and Ja’CARI Murphy.
Raven Tyler was the miniature bride. Gary Russell was the miniature groom.
Tyshera Broadhurst, Mia Tee and Angel Poe were junior bridesmaids.
Ny’Asia Garnder and Chymere Carr were flower girls. Jamal Carr was ringbearer.
Fontaine Swinson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Diressa Carr and the Rev. Anthony Henry Sr.
Justin Knight, Brian Johnson, Anthony Poe Jr. and Ja’CARI Murphy distributed programs.
Alanzo Gay was broom carrier. Maurice Carr was Bible carrier. Ja’CARI Murphy was caller.
Hostess were Shelia Tee, Alfreda Carr, Michelle Green and Joann Melvin.
Taquicia Carr was Scripture reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Nicholas Cole, pianist, and Shakira King, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Enlisted Club.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple reside in Goldsboro. A wedding cruise to the Bahamas is planned for December.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Ryan’s.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette party Aug. 4 at Holiday Inn Express; a bachelor party Aug. 4 held at Hampton Inn; and a bridal shower at the home of the bride.
