Deaton - Ingram
NORFOLK, Va. — Amanda Elizabeth Ingram and James Morgan Deaton of Fairfax, Va., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 8 at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Leland Jackson Howell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Capt. Richard Cameron Ingram and Sally Whitford Ingram of Norfolk and the granddaughter of Jerry McAulay and Elizabeth Manson Ingram of Mt. Gilead and Milton Gray and Elizabeth Barfield Whitford of Goldsboro.
She is a 2002 graduate of the College of William and Mary with an undergraduate degree and attends George Mason University for a Master’s Degree in education and an emphasis on literacy. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and American Sign Language Club. She is employed as an elementary school teacher at Kings Park Elementary School in Springfield, Va.
The groom is the son of James Larry and Francesca Arico Deaton of Springfield and the grandson of Curtis Eugenia Roby, the late James Arnold Deaton and Bernice Donehower of Springfield and the late Ector John Arico.
He graduated from Mary Washington College in 2000 with an undergraduate degree and the University of Virginia in 2006 with a Doctorate Degree in leadership, foundations and policy. He interned for Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a portrait neckline A-line silhouette with pearl buttons that accented the sheer back neckline adorned with Alencon lace. The lace carried through the portrait neckline and cascaded down the bodice and along the hemline.
She bride wore pearl and crystal combs in her hair.
The bride and carried a cascading bouquet with miniature calla lilies, stephanotis, gardenias, white dendrobium orchids and rosemary.
Karly Catherine Heal of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., served as her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Katherine Elizabeth Cottle of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride; Kelley Erin Kaufman of Fairfax, Va., college friend of the bride; and Elizabeth Kincaid Hamilton of Fairfax and Robin Christina Wild of Burke, Va., friends of the couple.
Matthew Howard Meyers of Charlottesville, Va., served as best man.
Groomsmen were Andrew Lawrence Doll of Fairfax, cousin of the groom; Lt.j.g. Cameron Ashley Ingram of Norfolk, brother of the bride; and David Richard Fisher of Springfield and Mark Aaron Heim of Triangle, Va., friends of the groom.
Ushers were Terry Davis Cottle, Jr. of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, and Jason Archer Wynegar of Arlington, Va., friend of the groom.
Susan Whitford Cottle of Goldsboro directed the wedding. Kelly Strauch and Jacob Strauch, cousins of the groom greeted guests and distributed programs.
Christine Caitlin Whitford of Charlotte, cousin of the bride, was mistress of ceremony.
Natalie Autumn Buck, the Rev. Jean Diane Mowrey, Ericka Fiorella Varillas and Jennifer Ann Greenwell were Scripture readers.
A program of wedding music was provided by Karly Catherine Heal, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Town Point Club of Norfolk.
After a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple reside in Fairfax.
Events held before the wedding included showers in northern Virginia hosted by friends an family and a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the Painted Lady Tearoom of Norfolk hosted by Elizabeth Whitford, Susan Cottle and Elizabeth Ingram.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Town Point Club.
