Richardson-Parker
WILMINGTON — Lesley Camille Parker and Christopher Todd Richardson exchanged vows in a double-ring garden ceremony July 1 at 6 p.m. at Halyburton Park, with the Rev. Penelope Morningstar officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Cynthia Smith Parker of Carolina Beach and James Todd Parker of Atkinson, the stepdaughter of Karin Bradford Parker of Atkinson and the granddaughter of Nelda Kornegay Smith and the late William Harris Smith and Cecile Todd Parker of Mount Olive and the late James Benjamin Parker Jr. of Wilmington.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with an MFA degree in creative writing and a bachelor of arts degree in English. She is employed as an English instructor at Coastal Carolina Community College of Jacksonville.
The groom is the son of Linda Efland Richardson and John M. “Skip” Richardson III of Leland and the grandson of Kathleen Jones Efland and the late John L. Efland Jr. of Efland and Dolores Caroline Joyner and the late John M. Richardson Jr. of Cary.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with bachelor of arts degrees in geography and Spanish. He is employed as a network specialist with Wilmington Health Associates.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a white formal satin A-line gown with an organza overlay adored with pink pearls and silver embroidered across the bodice and down the side and train.
She wore a traditional veil edged and dotted with white pearls and a sheer blushers veil.
She carried a bouquet of pink sorbonne Asiatic lilies mixed with hanging white amaranthus tied with bear grass.
Elizabeth Phillips of Raleigh served her first cousin as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kristin Grigerick of Washington D.C., friend of the bride, and Emily Johnson of Hampstead, co-worker of the bride.
Trent Richardson of Raleigh served as his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Skip Richardson of Leland, father of the groom, and Jay Richardson of Atlanta, Ga., brother of the groom.
Lucy and Tessa Richardson were the flower girls.
Jennifer Smith of Dudley and Ashley Barnes of Goldsboro, cousins of the bride, greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by the Jimmy Aycock Trio; Sidney McCall, vocalist, and Jimmy Aycock of Fremont, director.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents and grandmother, Cecile Parker, held a reception. Caroline Phillips, aunt of the bride, cut the four-tiered wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Tortola, British Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Hampstead.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon July 1 hosted by Melody Wilson and Caroline Phillips, aunts of the bride, at Henry’s Restaurant during which the bride presented gifts to her attendants; a bachelor party June 10 hosted by Trent and Jay Richardson; a bachelorette party and pampering shower June 10 hosted by Elizabeth Phillips at the home of Sid and Caroline Phillips in Wrightsville Beach; a luau May 13 hosted by family and friends at the home of Matt and Amanda Perkins; and a lingerie shower April 8 held by Jennifer Smith, Ashley Barnes and Jennifer Moye at the Barnes home in Goldsboro.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner June 30 at Neptune’s Restaurant in Wrightsville Beach.
