Lee - Dixon
DURHAM — Karen Marie Dixon and Chris Sangyeop Lee exchanged promises May 20 at 6 p.m.
The Rev. Steven Wicks officiated at the ceremony at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke University.
Parents of the bride are Donnie Heath Dixon and the late J.R. Dixon of Mount Olive. She is the granddaughter of the late Matthew Leroy Heath and Mary Burrow Heath of Newton Grove and the late Everette Jackson Dixon and Flora Swinson Dixon of Beautancus.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lee of Woodland Hills, Calif., are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Phil Hon and Hee Lee and the late Kee Hyuk and Hwak Shil Lee of Seoul, South Korea.
The bride wore a white satin gown with hand-embroidered and beaded flowers with a sweep train.
For her headpiece, she chose a tiara and a veil. She carried a bouquet of gerbera daisies.
Shannon McDonald of Monroe, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Louise Metz of Atlanta, Ga., and Georgia Scott of Durham, friends of the bride.
Drew Holland of Seattle, Wash., was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Neil Tooch of Oakland, Calif., and Daniel DeMeyts of Roanoke, Va., friends of the groom.
Rachel Barefoot, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Nathan Barefoot, cousin of the bride, was the junior groomsman.
Peyton McDonald, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Grayden Barefoot, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
Presiding at the register was Kay O’Tuel, cousin of the bride.
Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. John O’Tuel III of Durham and Alex Sasser of Raleigh, cousins of the bride.
Lauren Ellis of Roanoke, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Scott Peterson of Austin, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. John O’Tuel of Durham were readers.
A program of wedding music was provided by a string trio and Lauren Ellis, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Italy, the couple is residing in Alexandria, Va.
The bride is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School, Duke University with a bachelor of science degree in biology and women’s studies and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a medical degree. She completed her residency in emergency medicine in Oakland. She is employed as an attending physician at Fort Washington Hospital of Maryland.
The groom graduated from William Howard Taft High School of California, the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor of arts degree in English literary theory and Hastings Law School of California with a law degree. He is employed as a congressional aide to Congresswoman Barbara Lee.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Searle Center at Duke University.
On March 11, Mrs. Randy Holland, Ina Barefoot and Shannon McDonald held a shower at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.
The bridesmaids held a shower weekend Feb. 10 in Miami, Fla.
