Fleming - Smithwick
Carol Duffy Smithwick and Richard Ashley Fleming of Goldsboro were married Saturday, May 6, at 6 p.m.
The Rev. Morton Eugene Carpenter and the Rev. William Sims Brettmann officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bryant Smithwick of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Loyd Fleming Jr. of Pikeville.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Sallie Smithwick Colston of Rocky Mount, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Allison Perrine Corsmeier and Renee Mauney Davis of Raleigh, Caroline Renee Brown and Melanie Ray Daniels of Goldsboro and Louisa Michael Ward of Wilmington.
Robert Loyd Fleming III of Sanford was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Aaron Richard Paxton of Phoenix, Ariz.; Gary Irving Fornecker of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom; Ronald Sean Frelke of Wilmington; John Motley Langston of Goldsboro; and Louis Elton Smith Jr. of Rocky Mount.
Louise Carter Northington was crucifer. Lura Edgerton Hulse and Hallie Middleton Hulse were torch bearers.
A program of wedding music was provided by Roger Frank Searles of Chapel Hill and Timothy Stewart of Goldsboro, trumpeter.
After a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a graduate of East Carolina University. She was presented at the 1991 Debutante Ball.
The groom attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Arizona and East Carolina University with a master’s degree in business administration.
