MOUNT OLIVE — Robin Rose Pate and Dennis Ray Edwards pledged their wedding vows Saturday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m.

The Rev. Clayton Sutton officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Rodgers Chapel at Mount Olive College.

Helen Byrd Jackson of Mount Olive and the late Robert Lee Pate are parents of the bride. She is the stepdaughter of William Dexter Jackson and the granddaughter of the late Marshall Byrd and Virginia Chestnutt Byrd of Faison and the late Alonza Pate and the late Hettie Pate of Mount Olive.

Parents of the groom are Louise Watkins Edwards of Goldsboro and the late Amos Lovelace Edwards. He is the grandson of the late Elder Thomas Watkins, the late Maddie Lynch Watkins, the late William Jackson Edwards and the late Callie Louise Edwards of Wilson.

Given in marriage by her mother and escorted by her stepfather, the bride wore a formal diamond white strapless A-line gown with covered buttons. The embroidered bodice had an asymmetrical paneled effect on the skirt accented with linear bugle beads and seed beads flowing toward the hem cascading into a cathedral train. The fitted bodice was embellished with Swarovski crystals, bugle beads, seed beads and glass beads.

For her headpiece, she chose a silver tiara comb with crystals and rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of white roses, white lilies and dendrobium orchids accented with wax flowers.

Debbie Wilkins of Mount Olive, friend of the couple, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Diane Brock of Goldsboro, sister of the groom, and Jannah Pate and Joy Pate of Faison, sisters-in-law of the bride.

Wayne Edwards of Goldsboro was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Danny Edwards and Preston Edwards of Goldsboro, brothers of the groom, and Lee Pate and Keith Pate of Faison, brothers of the bride.

Rylee Pate and Abbey Pate of Faison, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Marshal Pate of Faison, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Madeline Tucker of Jacksonville, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jennifer Martin of Mount Olive, friend of the couple. Dondi Byrd of Faison, friend of the couple, distributed programs.

Diane Moody, friend of the bride, was a special helper.

A program of wedding music was provided by Mary Lynn Warren of Newton Grove, pianist, and Jimmy Martin of Goldsboro, vocalist.

After a wedding cruise to Cozumel, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

The bride is an honor graduate of North Duplin High School, a graduate of Atlantic Christian with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a graduate of East Carolina University with a master’s degree in educational administration. She is employed as assistant principal at Clayton High School.

The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School. He is employed as vice president of Edwards Truck Service.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Southern Wayne Country Club. Jimmy and Patsy Byrd of Faison, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Gail Byrd of Mount Olive, aunt of the bride, poured punch. Jean Byrd of Mount Olive, aunt of the bride, and Doris Kirby of Faison, friend of the bride, served the wedding cake.

A rehearsal dinner was held Jan. 20 at the Steak Barn in Goldsboro. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.

On Jan. 14, Doris Kirby held a dinner at Southern Exposure ofFaison.

Debbie Wilkins, Richard Kirby and Ken and Jennifer Martin held a pig picking Jan. 7 at the home of the bride.
