Grimes - Phillips
Cashie Miranda Phillips and William Ashley Grimes were united in marriage Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Preston Heath and the Rev. Murray King officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Stoney Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cashwell Phillips of Dunn. She is the granddaughter of Mae Godwin and the late Jasper Leon Godwin of Dunn, the late Mary Lou Phillips and Herbert Phillips.
Parents of the groom are Hilda Porter Grimes of Mount Olive and the late Urbain Faber Grimes. He is the grandson of Nita Chestnutt Grimes and the late Braxton Grimes of Mount Olive and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Porter of Faison.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin halter A-line gown adorned with lace appliqués on the bodice and skirt with a cutout hem.
For her headpiece, she chose a train-length pearl veil with a pearl beaded tiara. She carried a broccoli bouquet of white roses and white miniature calla lilies with green hydrangeas.
Carla Dale Phillips of Dunn, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sabrina Nicole Barman, Heather Wilson Mayo, Renee Garrett Skeen and Donetta Faye Steiner of Greenville, Valerie Gwyn Jackson of Cary and Selena Lee Joseph of Roseboro, friends of the bride, and Amy Tart Grimes of Mount Olive, sister-in-law of the groom.
James Braxton Grimes of Mount Olive was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Richard O’Neil Brewington and William Jason Corbett of Newton Grove, Gregory Scott King and George Jarman Sullivan III of Faison and Nicholas Randall Wilson of Dunn, friends of the groom; Larry Carmichael Phillips of Dunn, brother of the bride; and Joe Dan Waller of Mount Olive, uncle of the groom.
Alaina Bowen of Ashburn, Va., cousin of the bride, and Bailey Skeen of Greenville, friend of the bride, were flower girls. Bradyn Cole Hall of Dunn, cousin of the bride, and Conner James Grimes of Mount Olive, nephew of the groom, were ring bearers.
Grayson Bowen and Cameron Bowen of Ashburn, cousins of the bride, were acolytes.
Kori Godwin of Seven Lakes, cousin of the bride, was Scripture reader.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Monroe Lee of Dunn, friends of the bride, greeted guests and presided at the guest register.
Barbara Burch and Jo Ann Fields of Newton Grove, friends of the couple, directed the wedding. Adam Godwin and Michael Godwin of Greenville, Joby Brock Godwin and Katelynn Shirley of Dunn and Hannah Ryder of Matthews, cousins of the bride, and Sarah Rachel Price of Faison, friend of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Katrina S. Jackson of Faison, pianist, and Angie Alphin of Dunn and Kevin Daughtry of Newton Grove, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple is residing in Faison.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Midway High School of Spivey’s Corner. She attends Mount Olive College. She is employed by the Sampson County clerk of superior court of Clinton.
The groom graduated from Hobbton High School of Newton Grove in 1996. He attended North Carolina State University. He is employed by Waller Hardware.
Following the ceremony, a dance reception was held at the Regency of Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wade of Dunn greeted guests. Shannon Bowen of Ashburn and April Ryder of Matthews, cousins of the bride, served the wedding cake. Debbie Brooks of Fuquay-Varina, cousin of the groom, poured punch.
On Nov. 18, the groom’s mother held a rehearsal dinner and dance at the Regency.
James Grimes, brother of the groom, held a hunting trip and bachelor party Nov. 12 in Belhaven.
On Nov. 5, Jay and Kim Sullivan and family, Robert and Joy Oates and family and G.J. Sullivan held a pig picking at Smith’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Nancy Wade of Dunn, cousin of the bride, held a bridal luncheon Nov. 5 in Clayton.
On Oct. 29, friends of the groom held a bachelor party in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A fall-themed dinner party and grocery shower was held Oct. 22 at the home of Barbara Burch in Newton Grove.
On Oct. 16, family and friends held a miscellaneous shower at Stoney Run Church of Dunn.
Carla Phillips, sister of the bride, held a lingerie shower Oct. 8 in Sunset Beach.
On Sept. 25, friends held a miscellaneous shower at the home of Donetta Steiner in Greenville.
Goshen United Methodist Church of Newton Grove held a miscellaneous shower Sept. 18.
