Speight - Wilson
Sandra Allison Wilson and Derek Franklin Speight were united in holy matrimony Oct. 1 at 6 p.m.
Dr. Don Sauls officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Wiley and Sandra Wilson of Goldsboro are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Elizabeth Wilson and Mary Bear of Goldsboro, the late Norwood Wilson, the late Johnny Beard and the late Arthur Hartley.
The groom is the son of Jimmy and Patricia Speight of Pikeville. He is the grandson of Louise Speight and Louise Daw of Goldsboro, the late James Speight, the late N.J. Daw and the late Bobby Hinnant.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory satin with an off-the-shoulder ruby-trimmed sweetheart neckline embellished with sequins. The fitted bodice was accented with ruby trim and beads. The A-line skirt was accented with a beaded ruby sash. The back bodice laced with ruby ribbon. A ruby trim encircled the hemline of the beaded train.
For her headpiece, she chose a ruby and rhinestone tiara. She carried a cluster of ivory and red ranunculas and purple berries.
Julie Faucette, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Jennifer Wilson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Danielle Brogneaux, sister of the groom, and Paige Reeves and Ginger Winders, friends of the bride.
Jimmy Speight was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Brogneaux, brother-in-law of the groom, and Mark Bass, Hilt Winders and Kris Pate, friends of the groom.
Christian Brogneaux, niece of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid.
Sarah Brogneaux, niece of the groom, was flower girl.
Lynn Mooring, cousin of the groom, and Donna Mooring, friend of the couple, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Lynette and Melissa Howell, cousins of the bride.
Jed and Joanne Honn, friends of the bride, were acolytes.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kevin and Amy Mooring, friends of the couple, pianists, and Dolan and Kristen Williams, friends of the couple, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Wayne Christina School, a 2000 graduate of Wayne Community with an associate’s degree in business administration and a 2003 and 2004 honors graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a concentration in management information systems and a master of accounting degree. She is employed as a certified public accountant with Pittard Perry and Crone Inc.
The groom graduated from Faith Christian Academy in 1995 and North Carolina State University in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural business management. He attends North Carolina State University for a civil engineering degree. He is employed with Jimmy Speight Masonry.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Carla Jones, cousin of the bride, poured punch. Ken and Jennifer Hansley, cousins of the groom, served the wedding cake.
On Sept. 30, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist church. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
The bride’s mother; Ann Shaw, friend of the bride; and Lynda Trudy and Paige Hinson, cousins of the bride; held a bridesmaids’ luncheon and spa party Sept. 25 at the Wilson home. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On Sept. 23, co-workers of the bride held a luncheon shower at Pittard Perry and Crone.
Jed Honn, friend of the groom, and the groom’s father held a tool shower Sept. 10 at the Speight home.
On Aug. 27, Julie Faucette, cousin of the bride, and Paige Reeves, friend of the bride, held a lingerie shower at the Faucette home.
The LOV group of Pikeville Church held a miscellaneous shower Aug. 21 at the church.
On Aug. 13, Lynn Hartley and Elaine Hartley, aunts of the bride, and Lynette Howell, cousin of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower at Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Jennifer Wilson, sister of the bride; Julie Faucette and Melissa Howell, cousins of the bride; Danielle Brogneaux, sister of the groom; and Paige Reeves and Ginger Winders, friends of the bride; held a bachelorette beach weekend at the home of Frankie and Lynette Howell of Morehead City.
On June 18, Ginger Winders, friend of the bride, held a recipe shower at her home.
Jennifer Wilson, sister of the bride, held a Christmas shower Dec. 28 at the home of Wiley and Sandra Wilson.
