Kristi Lynn Lee and William Justin Best were united in marriage July 30 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Chad Smith officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Friendly Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Peggy Jordan Lee of Grantham is the mother of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Walter and Verdie Jordan of Newton Grove.
Parents of the groom are Mark and Shirley Best of Mount Olive. He is the grandson of Julian and Helen Broughton of Merritt and the late Willie and Emily Goodson Best of Mount Olive.
Given in marriage and escorted by her mother, the bride wore a white spaghetti strap ballroom gown with an empire waist embellished with hand-patterned white and crystal beading. The multi-layered tulle skirt featured a chapel-length train decorated with matching beaded motifs.
For her headpiece, she chose a tiara with rhinestones and white pearl accents with a cascading fingertip-length veil of silk illusion attached and adorned with rhinestones and crystals. She carried a round bouquet of sunflowers with delphinium.
Jennifer Moore Sawyer, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Cindy Thornton and Margaret Tyndall, sisters of the bride; Stephanie Boni, Jeanna Crocker and Stephanie Kirk, friends of the bride; and Janah Best, sister-in-law of the bride.
Mark Best was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jason Whaley, Corey Beers, Michael Troutman, Jon Kornegay and Rob Slaughter, friends of the groom, and Brian Lee, brother-in-law of the groom.
Brianna and Billi Jo Lee, nieces of the bride, were honorary bridesmaids.
Elizabeth Lee, Macayla Tyndall, Kylee Tyndall and Grace Tydall, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Justin Thornton, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
The Rev. Marvin Bryant was Scripture reader and gave a prayer.
Terri Wolf, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Amy Kopietz, cousin of the bride, and Elizabeth Moore, friend of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Rose Moore, pianist; Jennifer Sawyer, vocalist; and Elizabeth Moore, music coordinator.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, West Indies, the couple is residing in Wilmington.
The bride is a 1999 honor graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and a concentration in psychology. She is employed as a first grade teacher at Bradley Creek Elementary School of Wilmington.
The groom graduated with honors from North Duplin High School in 1998 and with honors from James Sprunt Community College in 2000 with an associate’s degree in arts.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at Southern Wayne Country Club. Paul Wolf greeted guests. Agnes Thompson and Janet Sutton served the wedding cake. Brenda Powers and Ann Denning poured punch.
On July 29, the groom’s parents held an after-rehearsal dinner at Nino’s Restaurant. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Pam Furr held a bridal luncheon July 23 at her home in Wilmington. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On July 22, Jon Kornegay, friend of the groom, held a bachelor night in Raleigh.
Stephanie Boni held a bachelorette weekend July 9 in Virginia Beach, Va.
On July 2, aunts and uncles of the groom held a sports trivia party at the home of Becton and Netta Broughton in Alliance.
The bride’s family held a bridal shower June 26 at Friendly Holiness Church.
On June 18, Jennifer Sawyer held a lingerie shower at her home in Wilmington.
Ladies of Garner Chapel Church held a floating bridal shower June 5 at the church.
On May 14, Rob Slaughter, Michael Troutman and Jason Whaley held a bachelor weekend in Atlanta, Ga.
