Brandi DeAnne Smith of Raleigh and Bradley Davis Bowen exchanged promises May 7 at 3 p.m.
Dr. Davis Bowen, Dr. Glenn Phillips Jr. and Dr. Jeffrey Roberts officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church.
Ellis and Deana Holland of Goldsboro and Gary and Ann Smith of Kinston are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Emma Smith of Snow Hill.
Parents of the groom are Davis and Barbara Bowen and Robert and Carol Ann Barber of Raleigh.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with a crystal organza overlay and a scoop neckline accented with cap sleeves of English netting adorned with beaded lace. The fitted bodice was embellished with lace enhanced with pearls and rhinestones and flowed into an A-line skirt embroidered with a satin band and cascaded into a chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a comb of Swarovski crystals that extended into a veil of silk illusion with a satin cording edge. She carried a cascading bouquet of Casablanca lilies, roses, miniature carnations, stephanotis, wax flowers and a variety of greenery.
Amy Lamm was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lynn Barnes, Melanie Shoffner, Julie Carmen and Traci Wallace.
Groomsmen were Ryan Halberg, Sheldon Fry, Mark McCoy, John Warren and Brian Williams.
Honorary bridesmaids were Tram Johnson, Amy Smith and Susannah Williams.
Elsie Hooks directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Amy Smith and Susannah Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Godley distributed programs and greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by Carol Gray, pianist and organist; Kara Collins, Tonya Higgins and Willie Hucks, vocalists; Anna Lee Crumpton, harpist; and Patrick Williams, guitarist and vocalist.
After a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
The bride is a 1993 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is employed as an SAE coordinator with Pharmaceutical Product Development of Morrisville.
The groom graduated from Sanderson High School of Raleigh in 1992, Virginia Tech in 1996 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and North Carolina State University in 2002 with a master’s degree in civil engineering. He is employed as a teacher at Enloe Magnet High School of Raleigh.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church’s Elsie R. Hooks fellowship hall. Annalean Reeves was director.
On May 1, the Sauls family of Garner held a cookout.
Co-workers of the bride held a bridal shower April 29 at the home of Jenny Fritz of Raleigh.
On April 24, a family shower was held at the home of Ann Gray of Snow Hill, aunt of the bride.
The bridesmaids’ mothers held a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 23 at North Ridge Country Club of Raleigh. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On April 10, the bridesmaids and friends of the bride held a seasonal bridal shower at the home of Deborah Ross of Cary.
Friends of the bride held a lingerie shower and bachelorette party March 19 at the home of Amy Lamm of Cary.
On March 13, ladies of First Baptist Church held a bridal shower/tea in the church parlor.
Tonya Higgins and Kara Collins, friends of the couple, held a couple’s shower at the Higgins home.
The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner at Billie’s Restaurant.
