Ashley Lois Hill and Brooks Austin Horne of Goldsboro pledged their marriage vows April 23 at 3 p.m.
Pastor Pete Bass officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Trinity Baptist Church.
Parents of the bride are Michael and Sally Hill of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Dot Whaley, Charlotte Sykes, the late Ward Butler and the late Elton Ray Hill of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Greg Horne of Goldsboro and Myra Mullins of Raleigh. He is the grandson of Joe and Mae Mullins and Bill and Evelyn Horne of Goldsboro and Louis and Patti Marriner of Pikeville.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white strapless matte satin A-line gown. The bodice featured re-embroidered Alencon lace appliqués embellished with seed pearls and crystals. The hemline was highlighted with a scalloped edging and matching lace appliqués and flowed into a semi-cathedral train.
For her headpiece, she chose a white double layer tulle veil. The second layer featured scattered beads and scalloped stitched edging with a floral design. She carried a hand-tied bouquet with yellow lilies and miniature calla lilies accented with lavender baby roses and yellow alstromeria.
Jennifer Anderson, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Carlie Abel, Lynn Briley, Elizabeth Hill, Jessica Keith and Kristin Waters, friends of the bride.
Greg Horne was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Wyatt Horne and Shawn Mullins, brothers of the groom, and Shane Powell, Daniel Robinson and Danny Tewes, friends of the groom.
Megan Brogden, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Cameron and Jackson Anderson, nephews of the bride, were ring bearers.
Jane Quinn and Annie Lou Edgerton, friends of the family, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jep Kirkland, friend of the couple. Melissa Verne, cousin of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Ila Strickland, pianist; D.J. Coles, vocalist; and Eddie Horne, brother of the groom, sound system.
After a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2005 graduate of Barton College with a bachelor of science degree in biology.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2000 and North Carolina State University in 2004 with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics education. He is employed as a high school math teacher at Smithfield-Selma High School.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner reception in the church fellowship hall. Robin Roberts served the wedding cake. Faye Hayes poured punch.
On April 22, the couple’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Trinity Baptist Church. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
Smithfield-Selma High School’s math department held a wedding shower April 14.
On April 10, ladies of Calvary Baptist Church held a wedding shower.
A bridal luncheon was held April 9 at Texas Steakhouse. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On Feb. 26, the bride’s family held a wedding shower at the home of Jennifer Anderson, sister of the bride.
