Kennedy - Vail
Phyllis Lewis Vail, became the wife of Charles, (Chuck) Kennedy, on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Dock Hobbs officiated the double-ring ceremony at Free Chapel Church of Patetown.
The bride is the daughter of Alma Lewis of Pikeville, and the late A. J. Lewis. She is the granddaughter of the late Nora Talton Lewis, Leon Lewis, and Irene Pate.
The groom is the son of Bill and Marie Kennedy of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Charlie and Nellie Kennedy.
Given in marriage and escorted by her brother, Jerry Lewis, the bride wore an ivory gown with lace appliqués, pearls, and sequins, featuring a cathedral-length train. She carried a bouquet of red silk roses, baby’s-breath, and ivy with ivy streamers tied in love knots, and pearl streamers.
Cathy Sasser, sister of the bride and Denise Lewis, sister-in-law, were matrons of honor.
Bill Kennedy, father of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Ethan Kennedy and Austin Kennedy, both sons of the groom.
Ashley Daniels and Jerrica Lewis, nieces of the bride presided at the register and distributed programs. Special music was provided by Jack Sasser and Jennifer Lancaster. Vickie Pate and Myra Brooks directed the wedding.
A cake cutting was held in the church fellowship hall after the ceremony. Marie Kennedy, stepmother of the groom served punch and Edie Wise, sister of the groom served the cake.
After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the couple will reside in Pikeville.
The bride is employed by Goldsboro Physical Therapy and the groom is employed with the Vacuum shop.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Madison’s on November 19th.
