Jacqueline Banzuela of Goldsboro became the bride of Christopher Allen Phillips Nov. 27 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. Vernon Braswell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Rosewood First Baptist Church.

Robert J. Mitchell of Rockaway, N.J., and Fe B. Mitchell of Goldsboro are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of James Mitchell and Nancy Mitchell of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Pete Shandra and Barbara Shandra of Hopatcong, N.J., and Lourdes Banzuela and the late Felipe Banzuela of the Philippines.

Ronnie and Debbie M. Phillips of Goldsboro are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Bobby Merritt, Brenda Merritt, Marie Phillips and the late Lebert Phillips of Goldsboro and Leonard and Ruby Hill of Dudley.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin strapless gown with a natural waistline and a chapel-length train. The bodice and hem were embellished with beaded Venise lace with a matching organza shawl.

For her headpiece, she chose an embroidered fingertip single-layer veil with Swarvoski crystals. She carried cascading calla lilies with lavender roses.

Katrina L. Whitaker was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Nikki Holloman of Dudley and Yolanda Wiggins and Maricel Dingman of Goldsboro, friends; Jennifer Phillips of Goldsboro, sister-in-law; and Katherine Erice of Maryland and Amanda Ruck of Pennsylvania, cousins.

Ronnie Phillips was his son’s best man. Ushers were Nathan Phillips of Goldsboro, brother; Robert J. Mitchell Jr. of Goldsboro, brother-in-law; Ray Potts of Pikeville, cousin; Bobby Merritt of Goldsboro, grandfather; and Jonathan Peterson of Washington and Ron Waters of Goldsboro, friends.

Angelica Rose Cecil was flower girl. George Anthony Cecil was ring bearer.

Janice Braswell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Jason and Jessica Fields. Donna Banzuela, aunt, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Marshall Lewis, pianist and organist, and Le’Ann Keen, vocalist.

After a wedding cruise to Key West and Cozumel, Mexico, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2004 graduate of Wayne Community College’s dental assisting program. She is employed as a certified dental assistant with Immediate Dental Care of Wilson.

The groom graduated from Rosewood High School in 1996 and Wayne Community College in 2001 with an associate’s degree in forestry. He is employed as market manager with Winn Dixie of Rocky Mount.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Donna Reel and Natalie Francis of Raleigh greeted guests.

On Nov. 26, the groom’s parents held a pig picking rehearsal dinner.

Nikki Holloman and Yolanda Wiggins held a lingerie shower in November.

On Oct. 3, the groom’s grandmother and family held a bridal shower at the home of the groom’s grandmother.

The groom’s mother and Donna Grantham held a floating bridal shower Sept. 26 at Rosewood Church.

On Aug. 14, the bride’s mother and friend held a bridal shower at the home of the bride’s parents.

Friends of the bride held a bachelorette weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
