Davenport - Fordham
SNOW HILL — Sarah Beth Fordham and James “Ryan” Davenport pledged their promises Nov. 14.
The Rev. Neal Salter officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Parents of the bride are Victor and Claudia Fordham of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Betsy Reavis of Goldsboro, the late Robert Thompson and the late Victor Fordham Sr. of Jacksonville and Marie Fordham.
The groom is the son of Jim and Judy Davenport of Snow Hill. He is the grandson of Ervin and Christine Davenport of Robersonville and the late Alton and Nealy White of Hamilton.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory satin gown with a corset bodice and an off-the-shoulder neckline adorned with handmade satin roses. The straight A-line front of the skirt was offset by a French bustle in back that spread into a chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a three-layered fingertip ivory veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of champagne roses.
Jim Davenport was his son’s best man.
Amy Wallace, sister of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Elizabeth Wallace, niece of the bride.
Rob Sears, cousin of the bride, was greeter.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Francis Sugg, organist, and Rebecca Fordham, sister of the bride, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Duck, the couple is residing in Emerald Isle.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2001 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of arts degree in art education. She is employed with Carteret County School as an art teacher at Beaufort Middle School.
The groom graduated from Greene Central High School in 1995 and North Carolina State University in 1999 with a bachelor of science degree in environmental science. He is employed as a coastal representative with Coastal Area Marine Act.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Colonial Inn of Farmville.
On Nov. 13, family and friends of the groom held a tropical wedding celebration at Davenport Oaks.
Bobbi Newton and co-workers held a miscellaneous shower Nov. 3 at Beaufort Middle School.
On Oct. 30, Gail Edmondson, Emily Baker, Triva Peacock, Kathy Dail and Debra Davis held a luncheon at the Edmondson home.
Lynette Overman, Beverly Keel and friends at Salem United Methodist Church held a miscellaneous shower Oct. 24.
On Oct. 23, Barney Byrd, Garianne Howell and Nancy Sauls held a lingerie shower at the Byrd home.
A cruise was held Oct. 2 from Southport to Bald Head Island.
On Sept. 26, Marie Fordham, grandmother of the bride, held a family shower at her home.
The groom’s parents held an engagement party Dec. 21 at their home.
