Cuddington - Smith
Melissa Dawn Smith became the wife of Scott Lloyd Cuddington of Goldsboro Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
The Rev. Billy Olsen and Joseph W. Franklin III, friend of the bride, officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Doug and Wanda Smith of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Christine W. Kornegay, the late William H. Kornegay and the late Currie and Lena Smith of Mount Olive.
Harold and Georgia Cuddington of Fremont are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Lloyd and Helen Bass and the late Frank and Smithy Cuddington of Fremont.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white silk A-line gown with a band at the strapless neckline and a rounded waistline defined by sewn pearls and beads. It had a plain skirt in the front and a split chapel train with an inset of organza layer beaded with complimenting to the bodice of pearls.
For her headpiece, she chose a comb of pearls and rhinestone in a floral design with a circle cut pencil-edged veil.
Stacy Surratt Belvin of Goldsboro was matron of honor. Ashley Kristina Smith of Greensboro, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Erin Brooks and Amanda Boykin of Wilson, Ginny Teachey of Fremont and Holly Cuddington of South Riding, Va.
Harold Cuddington was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Chris Cuddington of South Riding, Lee Grant of Wilmington, Jarman Howell of Goldsboro and Brad West of Fremont.
Honorary attendants were Jill Murray of Apex, Meghan Fields of Fremont, Robyne Caughon of Greenville, Crystal Barrow, Kim Bowden, Jennifer Draughon and Jerri Rae Pearson of Goldsboro, JoAnn Clark, Meadow Davis and Shannon Pipkin of Wilson and Lindsey Lewis of Athens, Ga.
Judy H. Gourley directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Brett Bond of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, and Clay Pittman of Fremont, cousin of the groom. Ryan Smith of Warsaw, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
Richard Torbert, cousin of the bride, was the crucifer. Colby Bond of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, distributed programs and was tintinnabulum bearer.
A program of wedding music was provided by Mark K. Gourley of Goldsboro, organist; Dennis de Jong of Raleigh, trumpeter; and Ron and Bobbi Ann Crawford of Goldsboro, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Maui, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2004 graduate of Barton College with a bachelor of science degree in gerontology. She is employed as activities director with the Wayne County Department of Aging.
The groom graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1994 and East Carolina University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in marketing. He is employed as a sales representative with Closetmaid North America.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance at Lane Tree Golf Club. Eddie and Debbie Lane and Steve and Cynthia Surratt greeted guests. Nancy Adams and Debbie Worley were directors.
On Nov. 19, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Steak Barn.
Ashley Smith held a bridesmaids’ spa and luncheon retreat at Envy’s of Greenville. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On Nov. 6, the Kornegay family held a pig picking at the home of Christine Kornegay, grandmother of the bride.
Ladies of Pine Forest United Methodist Church held a miscellaneous shower Oct. 17.
On Oct. 2, Betty Franklin and Judy Tew held a Pampered Chef shower at the Franklin home.
George and Lisa Pettus, Sam and Vicky Parker and Charlie and Sue McClenny held a cookout Sept. 25 at the McClenny home.
On Sept. 19, Erin Brooks, Joanna Clark and Amanda Boykin of Wilson held a bridal shower at the Brooks home.
Jennifer Draughon and Pam Holt held a luau dinner and shower Sept. 18 at the home of Ed and Pam Holt.
On Sept. 12, the groom’s family held a miscellaneous shower at Fremont Free Will Baptist Church.
Friends of the bride held a luau Sept. 10 at the Steak Barn.
Aug. 20 through 22, Ginny Teachey and Ashley Smith held a bachelorette weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Friends of the groom held a bachelor weekend Aug. 20 through 22 in Baltimore, Md., and Atlantic City, N.J.
