GRANTHAM — April Michell Herring and Joseph Brian Harrell said their marriage vows Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.

Frank Purvis officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Eureka Christian Church.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Sandra Herring of Grantham. She is the granddaughter of Colene Thompson and Chester and Nancy Thompson of Grantham, Lamont Herring of Dudley and the late Carol Herring.

Selby and Janice Harrell of Grantham are parents of the groom. He is the son of Joe and Merlene Cox of Grantham and the late Frances Harrell of Mount Olive.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white luster satin gown accented with an off-the-shoulder scalloped neckline enhanced with crystal beaded Schiffli lace. The bodice had a scalloped Basque waistline that flowed into an A-line skirt with matching Schiffli lace. The castillion train was decorated and completed with covered buttons to the hemline.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara accented with crystals and pearls with an elbow-length veil accented with star dust. She carried a bouquet of white and purple orchids, white daisies, white lilies, white roses and ivy.

Melissa Woodson, friend, was matron of honor. Carrie Herring, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jamie Harrell, sister of the groom; Cristyl Herring and Nikki Goins, cousins of the bride; and Keri Thornton, friend of the bride.

Selby Harrell was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Scott Williams and Micheal Hughes, cousins of the groom; and Chris Woodson, Dee Keen and Reggie Davis, friends of the couple.

Lagreta Parker, friend of the couple, was the honorary attendant.

Megan Goins and Lauren Grady, cousins of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.

Sarah Goins, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Jacob Grady, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.

Brenda Williams, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Phyllis Mozingo. Tyler Herring distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Gerald herring, pianist, and Jason Britt and Kelly Hughes, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Wrightsville Beach, the couple will reside in Grantham.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2002 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate’s degree in applied science. She is employed as an optometric technician with Doctors Vision Center.

The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1995. He is a member of Grantham Rescue and Jordan’s Chapel Fire Department. He is employed in counter sales at Style Crest Products.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Edward and Brenda Williams, uncle and aunt of the groom, said hellos. Annette Grady, cousin of the bride, and Judy Grady, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Sara Herring and Brenda Thompson, aunts of the bride, poured punch. Molly Weaver, cousin of the g room, presided at the gift table. Samantha Woodson distributed scrolls. Aleeyah Parker distributed bubbles. Hannah Graham distributed streamers.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Nov. 5 in the church fellowship hall. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

On Oct. 30, friends of the groom held a bachelor party.

The bride’s mother held a bridesmaids’ luncheon Oct. 30 at Logans. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

On Oct. 25, co-workers of the bride held a surprise shower.

Phyllis Mozingo, Frances worth, Linda Worth and Molly Weaver held a Christmas shower Oct. 24 at Grantham Rescue building.

On Oct. 22, Melissa Wooten held a lingerie shower at her home.

Family and friends of the groom held a miscellaneous shower Sept. 12 at Eureka Christian Church.

On Aug. 29, family and friends of the bride held a miscellaneous shower at Grantham Woodman of the World building.
