DUDLEY — Lindsay Carroll Thompson and William Jesse Tillman were united in holy matrimony Aug. 14 at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Shirley Acker Ward officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Brogden United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Roy Carroll and Jennifer Maxwell Thompson of Dudley. She is the granddaughter of Allen Jay Maxwell III of Nimitz, W. Va., Susan Ziemer of Goldsboro and the late Lloyd Thompson and Patsy Thompson of Dudley.
The groom is the son of Arnold Tillman and Judy Tillman of Pikeville. He is the grandson of the late Bunny Lloyd Tilman and Doris Tillman of Pikeville and the late Jim Lane and Christine Lane of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown with a tulle overlay. The bodice was embellished with embroidered lace with silver metallic detailing of sequins and pearls. The A-line skirt was enhanced with a scalloped border of matching lace, pearls and sequins surrounding the chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a headband of rhinestones and crystal with a tulle veil with a pencil trim. She carried a bouquet of miniature calla lilies.
Emily Thompson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Beth Creech, Megan Meacham, Allison Taylor and Angela Thornton, friends of the bride, and Brooke Thompson, cousin of the bride.
Lloyd Tillman was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Cody Tillman, brother of the groom; Blake Thompson, brother of the bride; Brent West and Brett West, friends of the groom; and Michael Melrose, cousin of the groom.
Carolyn Cox directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Angela Shaeffer. Jennifer Deans and April Melrose distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jeremy Owens, pianist, and Jeffrey Lane, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Pikeville.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. She attends Wayne Community College. She is employed at Darwin’s Screenprinting and Photography.
The groom graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1998. He is employed as a foreman with Interiors Unlimited of Hillsborough.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse. Carol Long, friend of the bride’s family, and Wendy Hicks, cousin of the bride, served the wedding cake. Karla Fry, cousin of the bride, poured punch. Jean Sutton, friend of the bride’s family, was the director. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Flowers, friends of the bride’s family, greeted guests.
On Aug. 7, Cindy Creech and Denise Meacham, friends of the bride’s family, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the Royal Tea Rooms. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
Debbie Glisson, friend of the bride’s family, and Wendy Hicks held a Pier I shower Aug. 1 at the Glisson home.
On July 11, the bride’s family held a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mary Parker, great-aunt of the bride.
A miscellaneous shower was held June 13 at Brogden Church.
On June 12, a miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Carol Long, friend of the bride’s family.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
