Krishnaraj - Lane
CHAPEL HILL — Sarah Elizabeth Lane and Arun Krishnaraj were wed Saturday, June 12 at 6 p.m.
The Rev. Austin Graham Lane, grandfather of the bride, officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the Governors Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lane of Oxford.
Parents of the groom are Dr. and Mrs. Muthaiya Krishnaraj of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless pearl gown with a full circular skirt and a sweep train. The button-front bodice was beaded and embroidered with a waist accented by a silk satin sash.
She chose a headpiece of Swarovski crystals and pearls with a fingertip-length veil. She carried a bouquet of pink persuasion calla lilies tied with pearl ribbon to match her dress.
Kelly Claiborne of Oxford, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Catherine Lee of Vancouver, British Columbia, friend of the couple, and Anuratha Shyamsundar of Pondicherry, India, cousin of hte groom.
Dr. Ramesh Krishnaraj of Greensboro was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Scott Inman of Chapel Hill and Dr. Dalton McLean of Boston, Mass., friends of the couple, and Matthew Lane of Oxford, brother of the bride. Ushers were Dr. Matthew Dyson of Charlotte and Dr. Matthew Ferguson of Birmingham, Ala., friends of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Melinda Boyd of Chapel Hill, Dr. Caroline Boyd of Philadelphia, Pa., and Valerie Powers of Greenville, cousins of the bride.
Garret Neal of Vanceboro, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
Presiding at the guest register was Julie Jernigan of Raleigh, friend of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Donald Sizemore Jr. of Chapel Hill, pianist; Timothy Lamb of Thomasville, vocalist; and a string quartet.
After a wedding trip to Asheville and St. Thomas, the couple is residing in Carrboro.
The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and a master of social work. She is employed as a legislative aide to Senator Ellie Kinnaird with the North Carolina General Assembly.
The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree in public health. He is pursing a doctor of medicine/master of public health degree.
On June 19, the groom’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Goldsboro Country Club. The couple exchanged flowered garlands, an Indian symbol of marriage.
The bride’s mother held a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 12 at Four Eleven West of Chapel Hill. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On June 11, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at La Residence of Chapel Hill. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
The groom’s brother held a bachelor party May 22 at Grandover Golf Resort of Greensboro.
On May 22, Cindy Garrison held a bridal shower at her home in Durham.
Evelyn Strickland and Anuratha Shyamsundar held a kitchen shower at Goldsboro Country Club.
On April 24, Kathie Young and Roy Roth held a dinner and shower at their home in Chapel Hill.
The couple received marriage blessings from the groom’s relatives in India Dec. 27 in Pondicherry.
