Smith - Bergman
Julie Ranae Bergman and Phillip Craig Smith II said their vows June 26 at 2 p.m.
Father Thomas Norris officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Parents of the bride are Jack and Sue Bergman of Pikeville. She is the granddaughter of Beverly and Ann Sydnor of Crewe, Va. and the late Victor and Rosemary Bergman of Ashville, N.Y.
Phillip Craig and Doris Smith of Goldsboro are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of John and Dorothy Poandl and Russell and Joyce Smith of Goldsboro and the great-grandson of Bruce Worrell of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless white silk satin gown adorned with embroidered accents and beads that trailed from the bodice to the chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a pearl and crystal accented three-tiered elbow-length veil of tulle with satin edging. She carried a bouquet of stock flowers and red roses tied with red and white satin ribbon.
Kristen Pittman, sister of the groom, was matron of honor. Crystal Williams, friend of the bride, was bridesmatron.
Phillip Craig Smith was his son’s best man. Rodney Pittman, brother-in-law of the groom, was the groomsman. Ushers were Patrick Smith, brother of the groom, and Joey Bergman, brother of the bride.
Kayla Pittman, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Russel Smith, brother of the groom, was ring bearer.
Carol Sears directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register were Shannon and Stephanie Poandl, cousins of the groom.
After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple is residing in Jacksonville.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She attended Wayne Community College. She will attend Carolina Coastal Community College’s dental assisting program.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2001. He is serving in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Lejeune.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church auditorium.
The bride’s mother held a bridal luncheon June 24 at Ham’s Restaurant.
On May 22, Kristen Pittman and Doris Smith held a miscellaneous shower at the Pittman home.
The bride’s grandmother held a miscellaneous shower May 19 at Cracker Barrel of Roanoke Rapids.
On May 18, Peggy Barnes and Crystal Williams held a Pampered Chef party.
