Bangham-Welch
GREENSBORO — Shiwanah Gail Welch of Greensboro and Erik John Bangham exchanged promises June 27 at 5 p.m.
Brother James Pannell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Parents of the bride are Perry and Dorothy Welch of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Jeff and Eliza Burgess of Sumter, S.C., and the late Johnny and Azaline Welch of Citronelle, Ala.
The groom is the son of Richard and Beverly Bangham of Kernersville. He is the grandson of the late Grace O. McCarty and Russell Bangham of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her brother, the bride wore a formal white satin gown with a Queen Elizabeth neckline and Juliet sleeves. The fitted bodice of Alencon lace was accented with clusters of seed pearls and sequins. The Basque waistline led to a flowing floor-length dress and a cathedral-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of pearls and sequins that extended into a cathedral-length veil with a scattering of pearls and a lace trim. She carried a fresh clutch bouquet of pink and white roses with miniature carnations tied with white satin ribbon.
Angela McGowan Eugene was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rana Jones of Greensboro and Gail Davis of Garner, sisters of the bride, and Alisha Bayster of Pittsburgh, sister of the groom.
Sam Davis was his friend’s best man. Ushers were Dexter Jones of Greensboro, brother-in-law of the bride, and Kenny Lavely of Kernersville, friend of the couple. Groomsmen were Craig Shepard of Pittsburgh, Gary Robinson of Charlotte and Dewayne Petty of Kernersville, friends of the groom.
Charnelle Gervin was flower girl. Julian Carlisle was ring bearer.
Melta Cogdell Lockwood directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Phyllis Gray. Brittany Petty and Dawn Carswell distributed programs.
After a wedding trip to the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains, the couple is residing in Greensboro.
The bride is a 1995 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, a 1999 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in middle grades education and a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. She is employed as a teacher with Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.
The groom graduated from North Hills High School of Pennsylvania in 1990. He is employed with Bank of America of Greensboro.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Clarion Hotel of Greensboro.
The family held a rehearsal dinner June 26 at Elizabeth’s Italian Restaurant. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
On June 6, Sheryl Johnson and Phyllis Gray held a lingerie shower at the Gray home.
The bride’s mother held a miscellaneous shower May 22 at Herman Park.
On May 19, sixth grade teachers of Walkertown Middle held a miscellaneous shower.
The groom’s mother held a shower May 8 at the home.
