Waddell - Carr
Emily June Carr and Joel Shelton Waddell were married Saturday, June 12 at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Larry Crane and the Rev. Bill Wilson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Pine Forest United Methodist Church.
Parents of the bride are Alan David and Beth Perkins Carr of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Calbert Perkins and Inez Bridgers Perkins of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Murphy Carr Jr. of Wilson.
The groom is the son of Jackie Shelton and Sandra Corbett Waddell. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Leo Corbett, Hazel Davis Waddell and the late Aaron Barnes Waddell of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless organza sheath gown with a trumpet skirt trimmed with beaded lace accents.
For her headpiece, she chose a scalloped rhinestone tiara and layered fingertip-length veil edged with satin trim accented with crystals and pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of white tulips, calla lilies, Gerber daisies and roses.
Blair Keen of Clayton, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Caroline Anderson and Jerri-Rae Pearson and Holly Smith of Goldsboro, Tabitha Bass of Fayetteville and Mandy Mayhew of Statesville, friends of the bride, and Jessica Perkins of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride.
Jackie Waddell was his son’s best man. Ushers were Walt Anderson, Kyle Corbett and Michael Cruse of Goldsboro, Mike Perkins of Pikeville and Dusty Shivar of Snow Hill, friends of the groom; Taylor Carr of Goldsboro, brother of the bride; and Adam Keen of Greenville, cousin of the bride.
Emily Warren of Goldsboro, friend of the couple, was the junior bridesmaid. Miller Gerrard of Goldsboro, friend of the couple, was the junior groomsman.
Melissa Capps of Wilmington, cousin of the bride, and Kelli Hooker of Goldsboro, friend of the couple, were honorary bridesmaids. Brandon Godwin of Garner and Joshua Smith of Goldsboro, friends of the couple, were honorary groomsmen.
Emily Kornegay, friend of the couple, was flower girl. Hayes Gerrard, friend of the couple, was ring bearer.
Margy Satterfield directed the ceremony. Debbie Lane and Wanda Smith were coordinators.
Presiding at the register was Tara Rogers of Goldsboro, friend of the couple. Rachael Kornegay and Charlotte Kornegay of Goldsboro, friends of the couple, distributed programs.
Duane and Marcia Kresge of Goldsboro, friends of the couple, were readers.
A program of wedding music was provided by Brad Collier, pianist and organist; Susan Kornegay and Nancy Moore, handbells; and Brian and Shannon Daniels and Jody Bridgers, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2002 graduate of Johnston Community College with an associate of science degree in radiology and a 2003 graduate with a certificate in diagnostic medical sonography. She is employed with Johnston Memorial Hospital as an ultrasound technologist.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1999 and Wayne Community College in 2001 with an associate of science degree in turf grass management. He is owner of Turfscape of North Carolina.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Joyce Cooke and Carole Mitchell were coordinators. Steve and Beverly Keen, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Mary Elizabeth Partin and Kathryn Satterfield, friends of the couple, poured punch. Jennifer Perkins and Linda Whitford, friends of the couple, poured tea. Janet Bridgers, friend of the couple, and Jenny Carr, Diane Mayhew and Sheri Perkins, aunts of the bride, cut the wedding cake.
On June 11, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Steak Barn. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

On May 2, ladies of Pine Forest United Methodist church held a miscellaneous shower in the church fellowship hall.
Betsy Lawhorn, Mary Lyall and Margy Satterfield held a tea party May 1 at Diane’s Cafe on the Village Green.
On April 18, Jackie and Sandra Waddell held a miscellaneous shower at their home.
