Adkins - Shafer
JACKSONVILLE — Amy Elizabeth Shafer of Chapel Hill and Robert Berkley Adkins of Houston, Texas, were united in holy matrimony May 29 at 2 p.m.
Chaplain Hilder officiated at the double-ring outdoor ceremony at Panache Weddings.
Gary W. and Brenda D. Shafer of Savage, Minn., are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Shafer of Goldsboro and the late Ruben and Hazel Draughon of Dudley.
Jacqueline Ferguson of Katy, Texas, and Donald Ferguson of Houston are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Thelma Kowis of Houston.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
Bridesmaids were Christina Ferguson and Kimberly Ferguson, sisters of the groom, and Ashley Thomas, cousin of the bride.
Samuel Kim was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Shafer, brother of the bride, and Justin Thomas, cousin of the bride.
Hunter McLaws, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Enloe High School of Raleigh and a 2002 summa cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University. She attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
The groom is serving in the Marine Corps as an airframes hydraulics mechanic and quality assurance inspector for the CH-46E helicopter. He is a color sergeant.
On March 26, Susan Fox and Chris Walsh held a miscellaneous shower.
Barbara Wyatt and Beverly Thomas, aunts of the bride, held a Pampered Chef party March 20.
