Phillips-Garrett
Jennifer Lynn Garrett and Nathan Ashley Phillips were united in marriage Feb. 14 at 3 p.m.
Pastor Vernon Braswell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Rosewood First Baptist Church.
Wendell and Pam Travis of Goldsboro and Bobby and Lisa Garrett of Winterville are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Earl and Nancy Jones and Kathleen Garrett of Goldsboro, Bobby and Janet Williams of Wilson, the late Robert Garrett and the step-granddaughter of Betty Travis of Goldsboro and the great-granddaughter of Lois Williams of Grantham and the late Robert Williams.
Parents of the groom are Ronnie and Debbie Phillips of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Merritt, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hill and Marie Phillips of Goldsboro and the late Lebert Phillips.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her stepfather, the bride wore an A-line gown of white satin with two-tone embroidery and a split front overskirt adorned with swarovski crystals and a chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose an elbow-length backpiece veil with a rhinestone tiara. She carried a cascading bouquet of red roses and white stephanotis.
Jackie Garrett of Goldsboro, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jessica Hayes of Goldsboro, sister of the bride; Taylor Travis of Cary, stepsister of the bride; and Melissa Silva and Jackie Banzuela of Goldsboro, friends of the bride.
Ronnie Phillips was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Chris Phillips of Goldsboro, brother of the groom; Bobby Merritt of Goldsboro, grandfather of the groom; Ray Potts of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom; and Jamey Nassef of Goldsboro, friend of the groom. Ushers were Jeff Hayes of Goldsboro, brother-in-law of the bride, and Hunter Travis of Cary, stepbrother of the bride.
Savanah Potts of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Devin Hall of Goldsboro, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
Janice Braswell of Goldsboro directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Natalie Hare and Mike Francis.
A program of wedding music was provided by Judy Lewis of Goldsboro, pianist, and Mike Singleton of Goldsboro, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple is residing in Goldsboro. They will relocate to Texas in the summer.
The bride is a graduate of Rosewood High School. She attended Wayne Community College. She is employed at Mitchell’s Eye Center as an insurance billing specialist.
The groom graduated from Rosewood High School. He attended Wayne Community College. He is employed by Pro-Tel. He will be serving in the Army and will be stationed in Texas.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Kim Holcombe and Susan Paynter served the wedding cake. Tori Paynter, cousin of the bride, poured punch. Danielle Paynter and Kathleen Holcombe, cousins of the bride, distributed birdseed.
On Feb. 13, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner and going away party.
Co-workers of the bride held a dinner shower Feb. 9.
On Jan. 30, Nancy Jones, grandmother of the bride; Kim Holcombe and Susan Paynter, aunts of the bride; and Jackie Garrett and Jessica Hayes, sisters of the bride, held a couple’s dinner at Daniels Memorial Church.
Lois Williams, great-grandmother of the bride, Doris Hood and Brenda Williams held a shower luncheon Jan. 25 at Jordan’s Chapel Baptist Church.
On Jan. 11, Donna Grantham, friend of the family, and the groom’s mother held a wedding shower at Rosewood Church.
Marie Phillips, the groom’s grandmother, and the groom’s family held a wedding shower Dec. 28 at the Phillips home.
