Goldsboro overcame a slow start and turned back county rival Charles B. Aycock 50-45 on Tuesday night.
The Cougars swept the regular-season series.
Goldsboro missed its first 10 shots from the field during a six-minute stretch to open the game and fell behind 10-2 after the first quarter. Tyona Moses and Destini Covington combined for 11 second-quarter points to give the Cougars a 17-16 lead.
Goldsboro (3-3 overall) never trailed in the second half. The Cougars led by as many as nine points before a pair of late baskets by the Golden Falcons completed the 50-45 total.
Moses led the Goldsboro attack with 24 points. Covington finished with 13 points and was the only other Cougar in double figures.
Myleah Jones paced C.B. Aycock with 18 points. Ashley Darden added 12 points and Taylor Daniels finished with seven.
C.B. Aycock (3-5) is the guest of Greene Central tonight. Goldsboro entertains Eastern Wayne on Friday night.
