Cougars' Martin, Malette shine during indoor meet

The Goldsboro High boys' and girls' indoor track teams each finished first during a multi-team meet contested at Rosewood High School on Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars' Kimberley Martin emerged victorious in three events -- triple jump, long jump and 55-meter dash. Teammate Grayson Collins claimed the 1,600-meter run in 6 minutes, 28 seconds.
Rosewood's Brynna Lee won the pole vault, while sprinter Alysse Atwell took first in the 55 hurdles and 500 dash. The Eagles also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
On the boys' side, Goldsboro senior Rasheid Malette placed first in the high jump and 300 dash. Christian Martens won the 500 dash, while James Clyde crossed the line first in the 55-meter dash.
The Cougars' quartet of Clyde, Antonio Futrell, Martens and Keyshawn Jenkins captured the 1,600 relay in 3:54.
Rosewood's Dalton Farmer won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.
