WCDS nets season-opening win over Lawrence Academy

Wayne Country Day swept the singles courts and handed Lawrence Academy a rain-shortened, 7-0 loss in the season-opening match for both teams Wednesday afternoon.
Lightning forced the cancellation of two doubles matches.
Former singles state champion Gianna Democko, Taylor Willman, eighth-grader Jennifer Potts, Mollie McDonald, Meredith Roethling and Ally Willman each posted a straight-set singles win.
Margaux Pope-McDonald prevailed 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
The Chargers (1-0 overall) play host to Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference foe Freedom Christian today.
