Southern Wayne 15,

South Johnston 4

* FOUR OAKS -- Southern Wayne stayed in the hunt in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference with a 15-4 win at South Johnston on Tuesday.

Jamie Dove led the Saints with three hits and seven RBI. Dove hit a pair of three-run home runs and also had an RBI single. Kevin Wise contributed three hits. Ashton Cox (two RBI) and Taylor Raynor (RBI) both had two hits. Cody Davis provided a home run and two RBI.

Jeremy Taylor earned the win on the mound in 32/3 innings of relief. Taylor allowed two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

Southern Wayne (7-2, 3-1 ECC) visits non-conference foe Rocky Mount today.

North Lenoir 17, Rosewood 3

* LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir rolled past Rosewood 17-3 in five innings in non-conference play on Tuesday.

Rand Jackson led the Hawks with four hits, including a grand slam, and had five RBI. Brian Hardy added two hits and three RBI. Grayson Phillips and J.T. Williams both hit home runs.

Addison Harper, David Williams, John Huntley and Spencer Bass all each recorded a hit. Delaney earned the win on the mound. He allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits, struck out five and walked none in five innings.

Jonathan Franks and Cody Harris both provided a hit for the Eagles.

North Lenoir (7-1 overall) visits Spring Creek today, while Rosewood entertains Charles B. Aycock.

Greene Central 16, Kinston 2

* KINSTON -- Greene Central routed Eastern Plains 2-A Conference foe Kinston 16-2 in five innings on Tuesday.

Wes Sowers (RBI) and Gunner Tyndall both supplied two hits for the Rams. Will Crandell (two RBI) and Ryan Cobb each had a hit.

Deric Grant pitched a complete game and earned the win on the mound. Grant allowed two unearned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks.

Goldsboro 17, Rocky Mount Prep 0

* Goldsboro routed Rocky Mount Prep 17-0 in five innings on Tuesday.

A.J. Lane and Asunji Maddox both had two hits for the Cougars. J'Juan Brown, Juwan Hall and Needham Core each provided a hit.

Lane pitched a complete game and surrendered two hits with eight strikeouts to earn the win on the mound.

Goldsboro (2-7 overall) opens Carolina 1-A Conference play at home on Friday against North Duplin.

Berean 5, Faith Christian 4 (game 1)

Faith Christian 20, Berean 4(game 2)

* Faith Christian split a N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region 2-A doubleheader with Berean on Tuesday.

Berean claimed the opener, 5-4.

The Conquerors took the nightcap, 20-4.

Silas Denlinger went 1 for 3 at the plate for Faith in game one. Matt Lambert took the loss on the mound despite recording 10 strikeouts while surrendering six hits and four walks.

In game two, Denlinger had three hits, including two solo home runs. Michael Clarke got the start on the mound for Faith and tallied five strikeouts.

The Conquerors (3-1 overall) entertain Liberty Christian on Monday.

Heide Trask 4, James Kenan 1

* WARSAW -- Heide Trask limited James Kenan to two hits and benefited from three Tigers' errors in a 4-1 victory in Tri-County 1-A Conference play Tuesday.

Tyler Haney and Seth Bass both had a hit for James Kenan. Ricky Langston suffered the loss on the mound. Langston pitched a complete game and surrendered four runs (one earned) on seven hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

The Tigers (4-5, 1-3 TCC) play host to Lakewood on Thursday.

Boys' tennis

Eastern Wayne 9, North Lenoir 0

* KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne sailed past Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opponent North Lenoir 9-0 on Tuesday at Bill Fay Park.

Mike Barnette, Steven Taylor, Rafael Guerra, Joseph Chaney, Mitchell Kaspar and Cole Newsome each earned singles wins for the Warriors.

The doubles teams of Barnette-Kaspar, Guerra-Chaney and Taylor-Newsome were also victorious.

Eastern Wayne (6-2, 5-1 ECC) visits South Johnston on Thursday.

C.B. Aycock 7, Southern Wayne 2

* DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock defeated Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Southern Wayne 7-2 on Tuesday.

Will Hoff, Bradley Wilson, Michael Kearney, Austin Walker and Rex Rose all contributed singles victories for the Golden Falcons. The doubles teams of Wilson-Walker and Sam Chastain-Sam Pierce also prevailed.

Alan Nunez contributed a singles win for the Saints. The doubles tandem of Brandon Outlaw-Nunez was victorious.

Aycock (8-1 overall, 5-0 ECC) plays host to Wilson Hunt today.

Rosewood 8, Wayne Christian 1

* Rosewood turned back visiting Wayne Christian 8-1 on Tuesday.

Antonio Henriques, Cole Radcliff, Zach Behrend, Daniel Elawar and Fuad Ismail all supplied singles wins for the Eagles. The doubles teams of Matt Binda-Henriques, Radcliff-Ismail and Behrend-Elawar were also victorious.

Christopher Easom had the Eagles' lone win at No. 1 singles.

The teams meet again Thursday at Wayne Community College.

Wayne Country Day 5, Cape Fear 4

* Wayne Country Day slipped past Cape Fear 5-4 on Tuesday at Wayne Community College.

Michael Knutson, Jack Langston and Douglas Williams each prevailed in singles play for the Chargers. The doubles teams of Knutson-Miller Gerrard and Langston-Williams were also winners.

Wayne Country Day (2-1) visits Parrott Academy today.

Softball

North Lenoir 5, Rosewood 4

* LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir held off Rosewood for a 5-4, non-conference win on Tuesday.

Bre Langley had two hits for the Hawks. Dani Moulton (RBI) and Liz Deal both provided a hit.

Nicole Robinson picked up the win in the pitcher's circle. She allowed four hits and four walks with three strikeouts in six innings.

Moulton earned the save.

North Lenoir (3-4 overall) visits Spring Creek today.

Princeton 11, Wilson Fike 2

* WILSON -- Princeton scored seven runs in the final two innings of an 11-2, non-conference win at Wilson Fike on Tuesday.

Megan Gerrell, Tori Paul, Savanna Massengill and Hannah Woodard each had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Massengill pitched a complete game and collected the win in the pitcher's circle. She allowed two unearned runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk.

Princeton (4-2 overall) visits South Johnston today.

Southern Wayne 0

* FOUR OAKS -- Southern Wayne was held to one hit in a 10-0 loss at Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference member South Johnston Tuesday afternoon.

Katy Heirling had the Saints' lone hit.

Madison Davis took the loss in the pitcher's circle. The right-hander surrendered 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Southern Wayne (1-7 overall, 0-4 ECC) entertains Southern Nash on Thursday.

Girls' soccer

Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 7,

Wayne Country Day 2

* ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day lost 7-2 at Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Faith Christian-Rocky Mount on Tuesday.

Sarah Best and Catherine Ford both scored a goal for the Chargers.

Wayne Country Day (2-3-0 overall, 0-1-0 CPIC) plays host to Harrells Academy on Friday.

Boys' track

Rosewood 93, Spring Creek 65,

North Duplin 13

* Rosewood cruised to a win over visiting Spring Creek and North Duplin in a Carolina 1-A Conference tri-meet on Tuesday.

The Eagles compiled a team scored of 93 points. Spring Creek tallied a 65 and North Duplin finished with 13 points.

Rosewood's Nick Britt finished first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Ricky Donahue won the pole vault and T.J. Frost claimed the shot put.

Jacquez Raynor prevailed in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Jyonte Raynor was first in the high jump. The Eagles' Jaylan Sneed finished first in the triple jump and 800 meters.

Rosewood won the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays.

Girls' track

Rosewood 64, Spring Creek 40,

North Duplin 34

* Rosewood finished first in 10 events and was victorious in a Carolina 1-A Conference tri-meet with Spring Creek and North Duplin on Tuesday.

The Eagles finished with a team score of 64. The Gators tallied 40 points and the Rebels had 34.

Rosewood's Crystal Allen earned a first place finish in the long jump and the 200 meters. Elise McSwain finished first in the triple jump and Alysse Atwell bested the competition in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

Cierra Satterfield won the 1,600 meters and Kasie Elliot finished first in the 3,200 run. Armani Perry prevailed in the 400 meters.

The Eagles claimed victories in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays.

Golf

Walnut Creek Ladies Association

* Kathy Woodard earned low gross during weekly tournament play at Walunt Creek Country Club.

Mary Morris claimed low net and Evelyn Rose seized low putts.

JV sports

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 15, Eastern Wayne 5 -- Ryan Grant tossed three innings of three-strikeout, one-hit scoreless relief for the Golden Falcons in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play. Grant helped his cause at the plate with two doubles and five RBI. Rider Gardner (three RBI) cranked out two hits and swiped two bases. Gregory Johnson (RBI), Logan Brown (RBI) and Garrett Joyner added two hits apiece. Hunter Jones tripled and Timothy Naughton scored three runs during a 1-for-3 outing. Tyler Huetter recorded two hits for the Warriors including a three-run home run. Tyler Warren and Jeremy Lancaster both had two hits. M.J. Morgan, Ryan Faucette and Josh Dixon each had a hit. C.B. Aycock (8-1 overall, 5-0 ECC) plays host to Rosewood today. Eastern Wayne (5-4, 3-1) visits Wilson Hunt on Thursday.
