Retired United States Air Force Master Sgt. William Howard Ellis Jr., 75, Raleigh, died Friday, June 29, 2018.
Bill was born July 21, 1942, in Whitmer, W. Va., to the late William Howard Ellis Sr. and Twila Mallow Ellis.
He lived his dream proudly serving in the United States Air Force. Bill will always be remembered for his incredible intelligence and his patriotism. He protected his country during the Vietnam War. Bill’s valor and skill was recognized with numerous decorations.
Following his military career, Bill began working with the Federal Aviation Administration.
He retired after more than 40 years of distinguished service to our country with the United States Air Force, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Bill was currently working with Raleigh-Durham International Flight Services.
Bill will be remembered Thursday, July 12, 2018, with full military honors on the front lawn of Seymour Funeral Home at 7 p.m., followed by a time of visitation at the funeral home until 9 p.m.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann Wellmer Ellis of Raleigh; son, Brian Ellis and fianceé, Jennifer Thornton Mooring, of Goldsboro; grandson, Jared Ellis of Troy; stepdaughter, Colene Lameyer of Florida.; and a special nephew, Jeff Johnson and wife, Bernece, of Colorado and children, Max and Ashlee Johnson.
He is also survived by two sisters, two brothers and several nieces and nephews all in West Virginia
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Jo Ellis.
