ALICE ROSE MOZINGO JERNIGAN

Alice Rose Mozingo Jernigan, 80, Rocky Mount, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Pruitt Health in Durham.
Alice Rose was born in Wayne County on December 21, 1937 to the late Ira Thomas Mozingo and Margaret Edwards Mozingo.
She was a 1956 graduate of Grantham High School and attended East Carolina University.
Alice Rose enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends. She was a resident of Rocky Mount for over 50 years.
Alice Rose was a valued employee of the United States Department of Agriculture for 45 years. However her greatest joy was when she was able to play music on her organ. Alice Rose was a member of West Mount Baptist Church in Rocky Mount where she served as the organist for over 40 years.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 9, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at West Mount Baptist Church, 8487 W. Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C.
A service to celebrate Alice Rose’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Falling Creek United Methodist Church, 299 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, with her pastor, the Rev. Wray Wheeless and the pastor of Falling Creek, the Rev. Greg Moser officiating. Interment will follow on the family plot in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Falling Creek United Methodist Church.
Alice Rose is survived by her sons, Robert Jernigan and wife, Marsha, Michael Jernigan and David Jernigan and wife, Shandal; grandchildren, Victoria, Elizabeth, Samuel, Sequoia and Joshua; brother, George H. Mozingo and wife, Kaye of Verona, Va.; and sister-in-law, Vicki Grimes Mozingo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Alice Rose to West Mount Baptist Church, 8487 W. Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C. 27803 or to Falling Creek United Methodist Church, 299 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
