VIRGINIA L. JOHNSON

Virginia Lee Johnson, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Monday at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Edna Besser, and was the wife of William E. Johnson.
Born in Battle Creek, Mich., she was a loving wife and mother.
Virginia traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe as part of her husband's military career.
She spent the last 32 years of her life living in Goldsboro, and was a former employee of Brody's Department Store and later Proffitt's Department Store.
The family will be holding a private service.
In addition to her husband, William, she is survived by a son, Gregory A. McDaniel and wife, Dinah, of Atwater, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Judy McDaniel of Durham, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Pauline and husband, Richard Smith, of Battle Creek, Mich.; grandsons, Christopher and Jeffory McDaniel of California, Stephen McDaniel of Christchurch, New Zealand, and Dustin Rigdon serving in the United States Army; granddaughters, Priscilla, Aliana and Patricia of New Zealand and Tawnya and husband, David Krick, of Louisiana; and other great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, "Ginny" was preceded in death by her sons, Mitchell K. McDaniel, Kevin McDaniel and Patrick McDaniel, and siblings, Bill Besser, Alan "Bud" Besser and Norma Jo Speroff.
