Mary Elizabeth Williams Stafford, 80, Pikeville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Mary Elizabeth was born in Wayne County on Jan. 11, 1938, to the late Louis Henry Williams and Elizabeth Taylor Williams. She was married to the late Dewitt Allen Stafford. Mary Elizabeth had worked for many years with Sunburst Foods in Goldsboro. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and granny. Mary Elizabeth will always be loved by her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate her life at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Pike Cemetery. The family will also greet friends Tuesday following the service at the funeral home and other times at her home.
Mary Elizabeth is survived by her children, Michael Allen Stafford (Dianne), Donald Henry Stafford, Curtis Dale Stafford (Joan) and Pamela Jean Stafford (Ricky); 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister Sharon K. Carter (Doug). She is also survived by a family friend that she cared for in her home, Kenny Stevens and wife, Kathy.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Henry "PeeWee" Williams; and sister, Betty Jean Williams.
