Christie Mae Herring, 41, of Wilmington, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018. She was the daughter of James Herring of Goldsboro and Karen and George Glaubiger of Raleigh, who survive her.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Austin James Murvin and his father, Chris Murvin, of Wilmington; brothers, Robert Herring and wife, Greta, of Wendell, David Herring and wife, Tana, of Mount Olive, and Sam Glaubiger and fiancée, Amber, of Chapel Hill.
Christie was a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society and graduated magna cum laude from Mars Hill College. She had an extensive career in banking, working as a loan officer and business manager. Her list of volunteer activities was lengthy, but her most notable work was assistant director of law enforcement, security, safety and medical for the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games. She loved her family and friends dearly and never refused a request. Her son, Austin, was the brightest star in her life. We will miss everything about her.
