LINWOOD R. HOLMES

Linwood Ray Holmes, 76, known as Linn, resident of the Brocks Chapel community near Mount Olive, passed into the presence of the Lord Friday evening, Jan. 12, 2018, while at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
He had been a machinist with Kemp Furniture, and then he was employed with Quality Plumbing.
Known for his love for music, he was quite talented with stringed instruments, enjoying bluegrass gospel music.
He was of the Holiness faith.
Linn was preceded in death by his parents, Abb and Mary Owens Holmes; four sisters, Bertha H. Davis, Eva H. Brock, Dorothy H. Waters and Haddie H. Brock; four brothers, Alva "Junior" Holmes, James "Sonny" Holmes, Durwood Holmes and Edward Earl "Baby" Holmes; along with a little brother, Robie Jackson Holmes.
He is survived by a son, William "Billy" Holmes of Rosewood; a sister, Lucille H. Winders of Rocky Mount; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Jean Holmes Horne of Mount Olive, Lillie Holmes of Rosewood and Everleene Holmes Futrell of Albertson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at Brock's Chapel Church, officiated by the Rev. James Earl Herring, followed by burial at Pate Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church during the hour prior to the service.
