KATHY L. BATTS-LEWIS

KATHY L. BATTS-LEWIS

Kathy was born in Asheville, N.C., Jan. 17, 1962, to Ray and Mary Batts.

Growing up in a military family, Kathy spent her childhood in many places, including her primary years in Panama, before moving to Goldsboro.

Kathy graduated magna cum laude from Western Carolina University, and she enriched and heartened the lives of numerous children during her career as a special education teacher in Indiana and Texas.

In addition to her parents, Kathy is survived by her brothers, Ray Batts and wife, Kim, of Goldsboro, and Bill Batts and wife, Wendi, of Fremont.

Kathy is also survived by three nieces, Raychel Panton, Krystal Cooper and Madison Batts; a nephew, Ryan Batts; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; and a fur baby, Morris, all of whom brought great joy into her life.

As per Kathy's wishes, no public services will be held, and her spirit will be returned to her beloved Smoky Mountains, the birthplace of her mother and the homeplace of her Tennessee family.

Please send any memorial contributions to Meals on Wheels, American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice.
