Allan Roscoe Sauls, 71, Fremont, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro with his family by his side.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Sauls was a native of Wayne County born May 31, 1946, to the late Willie and Jane Peacock Sauls.
He was a dedicated and faithful member of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and many other capacities within the church.
Mr. Sauls was retired from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, where he served as deputy sheriff.
He was a lifetime member of Fremont Rescue, where he served as captain for eight years, and also served as president of the Wayne County Rescue Association.
He was a member of Fremont Fire Department, served as Northern Wayne Fire Protection District commissioner and was a member of Fremont Home Lodge No. 613, where has was a 32 degree Mason.
Mr. Sauls loved Wayne County, and was a true servant. He was a people person, and had a big heart full of love, and would help anyone he could. He will be missed.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Patsy Harrell Sauls; one daughter, Julie Sauls Head and husband, Anthony, of Fremont; one grandchild, Lindsey Head; his sister, Maidie Sauls Edwards and husband, Reuben, of Seven Springs; his niece, Shawna Pelletier and husband, Dany, of Lucama; nephew, Chris Edwards of Seven Springs; and an aunt, Ade Lee Mitchell of Fremont.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
