MELBA ROSE GURLEY

Melba Rose Gurley, 62, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday night at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of Harold and Dorothy B. Gurley of Goldsboro.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Melvin Bell.
Rose was a devoted member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. Her love of God was evident to all who knew her, and although she was deaf on this earth, her family is celebrating knowing she is hearing the beautiful sounds of heaven today.
A service to celebrate Rose's life will be held Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Christian Powell and her uncle, pastor Rudolph Britt, officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Tuesday evening immediately following the service at the church.
In addition to her parents, Rose is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mitzi and David Hansley; sister, Suzie Baker; her brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Cindy Gurley; her nieces and nephews, Mary Catherine and Bryan Talton and their daughter, Ella Rose Talton, Nick and Madison Gurley and their daughter, Eleanor Gurley, Joseph Gurley and his fianceé, Emily Turnage, Derrick and Jessica Hansley and their daughter, Emory, Ken and Jennifer Hansley and their children, Drake and Luci Grae, Kesha Gooding and her daughter, Ardin, and Baby Ryland, Michael Hansley and his daughter, Michelle, and Cole and Cale Baker; and a multitude of special and extended family.

A special thanks to Dr. James Atkins and the staff at Southeastern Medical Oncology Center for the many years of outstanding, compassionate care given to Rose. You are each very special to Rose and our family.
