GRACE FLOWERS HOOD HUDSON

Grace Flowers Hood Hudson went home to be with her Heavenly Father Dec. 6, 2016.
She was a longtime member of Mulberry Baptist Church, and loved working with the babies and toddlers in the nursery and the homebound ministry. Grace had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, and was always ready to speak to anyone about his or her salvation.
Many people have expressed what a sweet lady she was, and that was true throughout her entire life. She deeply cared for everyone.
She loved making homemade bread for family and friends.
She loved going to the YMCA for water aerobics until the last few years.
She was a dedicated employee of the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles for more than 25 years.
She was the daughter of the late Leslie Green and Eva Belle Flowers and her stepmother Mary.
A native of Johnston County, N.C., she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Hood, and her second husband, Charles Hudson.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen Flowers Johnson; brothers, Leslie Carlyle Flowers and Joel Pias Flowers; and stepchildren, the late Charles F. Hudson Jr. of Charlotte and the late Christy Wilkinson of Gastonia.
She leaves behind her children, Mike Hood (Jackie) of Raleigh, N.C., Kathy Lee of Lowell, N.C., Nancy Barker (Vance) of Charleston, S.C., and Marigrace Faulkner (Trent) of Monroe, N.C.; grandchildren, Sandi McCarter (Michael), Jennifer Kleiss (David), Bobby Hood, Daniel Faulkner and Madison Faulkner; great-grandchildren, Hannah Oxendine, Zachary McCarter, Norah Kleiss and Sutton Kleiss; stepchild, Cindy Howell (Steve) of Sherrills Ford; stepgrandchildren, John Overman and Shane Calhoun; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Kayla, Dereck and Brooklyn Overman and Cheyanne and Audrey Calhoun.
The family wishes to thank the loving staff at White Oak Manor of Charlotte for its care and dedication.
Grace's family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Mulberry Baptist Church, 6450 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, N.C., 28214, from 1 to 2 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service, with the Rev. Larry Burns officiating.
In addition to flowers, memorials may also be sent to Mulberry Baptist Church.
