GLADYS COX MCCULLEN

Gladys Cox McCullen, 91, Goldsboro, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Gladys was born in Wayne County Sept. 6, 1925, one of 14 children, to the late Ira Cox and Catherine Johnson Cox.
She served in ministry with her husband, the late Rev. Bill McCullen, in the United Methodist Church. Gladys was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Her life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. Gladys dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. She was always on call to give an encouraging word or helping hand.
Gladys enjoyed life, especially her life with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Gladys' life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Thursday immediately following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
Private interment will be held for the family at Wayne Memorial Park.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Rosemary McCullen of Morehead City; son, Billy Wayne McCullen and wife, Connie, of Princeton; her grandchildren, Allison McCullen Thomas and husband, Michael, and Tim McCullen all of Princeton; and great-grandchildren, Gray, Cole and Nick Thomas.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and caregiver, Brenda Gurley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in honor of Allison McCullen Thomas to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
