Annie Lou Pugh Collier, 82, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Annie Lou was born in Alamance County Aug. 27, 1934, to the late James Troy Pugh and Clara White Pugh.

She earned degrees at Elon College and Women's College in Greensboro, now known as the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Annie Lou lived a life of dedication to her family and friends and to her community. She served her community many ways from working as a teacher at Walnut Street School, Wages Head Start and Freedom Christian School to volunteering at O'Berry Center.

For many years, Annie Lou worked as a caregiver for Dora Fleming, as well as helped with the family business, Collier Motors.

Annie Lou was a caring, loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.

She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, and was attending Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

A service celebrating Annie Lou's life will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Walter Sloan and pastor Jonathan Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service and following the service and other times at her home.

Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Pikeville Cemetery.

Annie Lou is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bobby Collier; children, Patricia Collier of Fremont, Robbie Collier and wife, Ruby, of Goldsboro, Kevin Collier and wife, Rebecca, of Kinston and Douglas Collier and wife, April, of Raleigh; sister, Clara Faye Herner of Silver Spring, Md.; and 11 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son and brother, W.T. Pugh of Graham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Christian Academy, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
