Lemuel “Lembo” Frank Kornegay, 54, Dudley, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, in an automobile accident during Hurricane Matthew.
Lemuel was born in Wayne County June 21, 1962, to the late Leonard Wilkins Kornegay and Barbara Amberson Kirkpatrick.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Lemuel was an avid Tarheel fan, and was a frequent patron of Ruby Tuesday’s, where he enjoyed watching the games.
Graveside services will be Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at noon at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Lemuel is survived by his sisters, Deborah K. Johnson and husband, Craig, of Goldsboro and Robin K. Treider and husband, Mark, of York, Pa.; stepsiblings, Donna A. Amos of Goldsboro, Lynn A. Parham of Greenville and Gary Andrews and wife, Betty, of Goldsboro; and special nieces and nephews, Jamie Wiggins of Miami, Fla., Laura Wiggins of Goldsboro, Stuart Johnson of Greenville and Michael Treider of Red Lion, Pa.
He is also survived by a special aunt and uncles, Nathan and Evelyn Dawson, and their son, Terry, and Virgil Amberson, along with several other family members, as well as his numerous feline friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan., 66675, or Wayne County Humane Society, Pet Food Pantry, P.O. Box 821, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
