Lindsey Carr Lucas Sr., 83, Aycock Dairy Farm Road, Fremont, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at home.
He was the retired owner of the LaGrange Roofing Co.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont, with visitation afterward.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery.
Mr. Lucas was born in Lenoir County Sept. 8, 1932, to the late Nathaniel Lindsey Lucas and Annie Lee Stocks Lucas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Viola Smith Lucas; two daughters, Arlene Pierce and husband, David, and Leigh Harper and husband, Joseph, of Fremont; five sons, Gary Lucas and wife, Margaret, of Dallas, N.C., Lindsey C. Lucas Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Marshall, Mich., Stanley Lucas and wife, Gayle, of Kinston, Bill Lucas and wife, Sharon, of Littleton and Hoyt Lucas and wife, Cindy, of Viera, Fla.; one sister, Peggy Hooks and husband, Gary, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by four sisters, Grace, Bonnie, Cleo and Louise; two brothers, Edward and Calvin; grandchild, Christopher Lucas; great-grandchild, Carter Pierce; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St. in Fremont.
