Alice Goble Bowman, 89, Taylorsville, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro, N.C.
Mrs. Bowman was married to Haven Herman Bowman for 63 years until his death in 2014. They shared a lifetime of fellowship and community service.
For many years, they attended every night of the Alexander County Fair working on the eye will project for the Lions Club.
They were active with Sugar Loaf Volunteer Fire Department and the Alexander County YMCA.
Mrs. Bowman worked as a dietitian for more than 20 years at Sugar Loaf Elementary School and First Baptist Church. She loved sharing her food, recipes and flowers, and was known throughout Alexander County for her hospitality.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Jane Bowman Walston and husband, John, of Goldsboro, and Dianne Bowman Smith of Greensboro, and grandsons, John Turner Walston and wife, Corrie, of Durham and Jason Bowman Walston of Goldsboro.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel of Taylorsville. The Rev. Phyllis Vail will officiate. Burial will follow in Taylorsville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
