TERRY K. COLUMBUS

Mrs. Terry Kennedy Columbus, 69, passed away Friday afternoon, May 20, 2016, at her home surrounded by friends and loved ones. She was a resident of Forest Hills community in Goldsboro.
She had been employed as an administrative assistant, first in the textile industry and then in banking.
Her last years of employment were those of assisting her husband in the operation of their business, NC Mobility.
Terry was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.
Very athletic her whole life through, she played basketball in high school, enjoyed playing softball and was an avid golfer.
She, too, was very enthusiastic with shag dancing, had taught shag and was inducted into the Shaggers Hall of Fame in 2014.
Terry also enjoyed the beach, and nothing pleased her more than a day of shopping.
Terry was the daughter of the late Roy Byrd Kennedy and Hazel Taylor Kennedy.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas R. “Nick” Columbus of the home; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Randy K. and Bobby Holland of Mount Olive and Pat and Joe Miriello of Dunn; a brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Dannie E. Kennedy of Faison; father-in-law, Cecil R. Columbus of Mount Olive; several nieces and nephews from both sides of the family; special friends, who were a great comfort and source of strength during her cancer battle, Connie and Bruce Sasser of Raleigh; and last but not least, her beloved four-legged daughter, “Ava.”
Along with her own parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Helen K. Columbus, and a sister-in-law, Jerry R. Thompson.
It is the wish of the family that, instead of flowers, memorial gifts be presented to Cure for the Colors, c/o Southeastern Cancer Center, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
A service of remembrance will be held at a date and time to be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Home of Mount Olive.
