SUE HOOD HILL

Nov. 9, 1953-Feb. 19, 2016

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:6-8

Sue Hood Hill, 62, went home to be with her Lord Friday evening after a brief illness.

She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend whose love for life and others was apparent to all who met her.

Sue was born in Wayne County Nov. 9, 1953, to Pat Avent Farr of Goldsboro and the late David Wright Hood.

She attended Atlantic Christian College, and was a graduate of Bauder College in Atlanta with a degree in fashion merchandising.

Following her graduation, Sue began working with her father in the family business, Hood Equipment, and continued there for 25 years.

She then returned to college to earn her degree in special education from East Carolina University.

Sue became a beloved special education teacher at Grantham Elementary School and later at Princeton Elementary School.

She was a dedicated teacher, and Sue loved and cared deeply for her students.

As Sue was always looking for other job opportunities, she had also worked in floral design in her own shop at home, in fragrance sales at Belk, in sales at Sandi's Beachwear in Atlantic Beach and was currently selling Thirty-One merchandise.

Sue was a strong, independent woman whose smile could light up a room; she enjoyed crafts, helping raise money for Relay for Life, going to the beach and spending time with her family.

Her contagious smile and outgoing personality broke down barriers and opened doors to an exciting and fulfilled life. She was the life of the party.

Sue will never be forgotten.

Though Sue accomplished so much and blessed so many people in countless ways, she would probably say her greatest accomplishment surely would be her two children, Morgan and Jordan. They would tell you that having such a godly, loving, kind, compassionate and strong, yet gentle, mother was one of the greatest blessings of their lives.

She made every holiday special, and constantly showered her family with love.

Sue's family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro and other times at her home.

A service celebrating Sue's life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with her pastor, the Rev. Patrick Muston of Selah Christian Church officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Sue is survived by her husband of 31 years, David Hill; son, Morgan Hill and wife, Brittany; daughter, Jordan Hill and fiancé, Scott Walker; brother, Brian Hood and wife, Sharon, of Atlanta, Ga.; niece, Stacey Hood; and nephew, Brent Hood and wife, Mary Ellen.

In addition to her father, Sue was preceded in death by her stepfather, Frank Farr.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care it provided for Sue during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.

Also, special thanks go to her wonderful friends, church family and the nurses and doctors who cared for her and her family in so many kind and thoughtful ways through the past few months and during this time of loss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Sue's memory to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or Relay for Life at Selah Christian Church, in care of Jean Hollowell, 3304 Stevens Mill Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or perform an act of kindness with Sue in mind.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
