Portia Smith, 90, 370 Hopesway Drive, Dudley, transitioned Nov. 26, 2015, at Willow Creek Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Goldsboro, N.C.
Mother Smith served as nother of the church, Sunday school teacher, usher, treasurer and choir director Sunshine Band.
Homegoing services will be held Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at All Saints United Holy Church in Dudley, N.C., with pastor Patricia Faison presiding. Burial will follow in Budd Cemetery in Dudley, N.C.
Mother Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William Smith Sr., and one son, William Smith Jr.
Mother Smith is survived by four children, one sister, 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A time of viewing/visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Garris Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m.
